Wow.
This product is labelled as "100% cranberry juice" on the web page, and "100% unsweetened Juice: Cranberry Juice (fine print: blend of 4 juices from concentrate with added ingredients)" on the bottle.
The ingredients: "FILTERED WATER, CONCENTRATED JUICES, (APPLE, CRANBERRY, PEAR, GRAPE), NATURAL FLAVOR, PECTIN, COCHINEAL, CITRIC ACID, ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C)"
tropicaldelight.com/products/1…
However, when I've looked for other products, many on older lists that list products with cochineal or carmine now seem to have other coloring agents instead in their modern ingredient labels, I think a lot of companies realized that no one expected that their products weren't vegetarian, and there can be allergy issues with the dye.

A strong #earthquake in eastern #Afghanistan kills at least 250 people and injures 500
apnews.com/article/afghanistan…
The quake late Sunday hit a series of towns in the province of Kunar, near the city of Jalalabad in neighboring Nangahar province. The 6.0 magnitude at 11:47 p.m. was centered 27 kilometers (17 miles) east-northeast of the city of Jalalabad in Nangarhar province, the U.S. Geological Survey said. It was just 8 kilometers (5 miles) deep. Shallower quakes tend to cause more damage.

It can be old works, or new. I'll be trying to post on the day of the prompt, but skipping around is fine.
The point is to create and share #SciArt and to have fun!
If this helps: creating art is an act of resistance. Add #SciArt and it's radical!

It was really interesting to watch some nearly influencer-like left-leaning folks leave Twitter for Mastodon and then get really angry about people here responding to them in non-sycophantic ways...
Then they went to Bluesky and now they have everything they had on Twitter except the right-wing abuse (good) and they can also avoid critiques or questions from people to the left of them. Fine for them, glad they're happy, but interesting to note!
Just thinking out loud about this, so it's a ramble - as I still post on both of those other sites - but Twitter and Bluesky really do have the same culture - and that culture is the thing that's all wrong with the world now!
Hence why I love Mastodon so much, interesting people sharing interesting things and having discussions about it. It's what I always loved about online communities decades before Twitter, and it's what remains great about online communities.

Men as a monolith neither like nor dislike shopping for clothes, all men are unique individuals who like different things.
However, clothes shopping is considered a feminine activity in some cultures. Especially a feminine activity to enjoy and to do recreationally. So men in those cultures are expected to insist they hate clothes shopping.
Queer Like The Slur
in reply to Queer Like The Slur • • •I used to work at a chain of shops where wealthy older men *love* to shop (a place that sells akubra hats and riding boots).
The most insecure men would regularly announce that they never do this, their wife always does this for them, this is definitely not something they do!! (while walking around the shop, trying things on, asking for more flattering cuts and fits, etc)

in reply to AI6YR Ben • • •@coolandnormal I happen to be straight and male, but I truly don’t give a damn what random dickheads (especially the “alpha male” furries) think of me.
Nonetheless, I genuinely dislike most clothes shopping for myself. I find it distressing. I don’t have any real interest in my own appearance, except in as much as I’m aware sort of cynically of the effect it has on others, perhaps employers or perhaps more positively on friends at their weddings or whatever.
Mark Whybird
in reply to Mark Whybird • • •@coolandnormal Which is not in any way a denial of your “men as a monolith” thesis; it just so happens that this individual happens to have a preference of not clothes shopping.
Ironically, I was in a literal Akubra shop just 2 hours ago picking up a gift for someone else. I tried in a top hat out of pure amusement while I was waiting; make of this what you will! I’d class “accessories” and “clothing” as slightly different though obviously related things, though.

in reply to gabby wheels • • •@gabbywheels 2014. The book is valid, but it has a bunch of stuff that makes me roll me eyes, LOL. (MOSTLY, his statements on how important it is to pay attention to your look and his many very white, neurotypical, wealth/class/race driven statements, IMHO).
The valid stuff that I have distilled so far: 1. Certain colors look better on people than others. 2. Don't keep around anything that makes you look terrible, i.e. wrong color. 3. Fit is very important, don't wear stuff that doesn't fit (it typically too big... though some guys, maybe too small LOL). 4. If you want to subscribe to his philosophy, don't own and wear clothing you haven't thought about and how you look in it.
NilaJones
in reply to AI6YR Ben • • •@gabbywheels
Yeah I agree that distillation is solid!
The color thing is important. And yeah, a lot of color stuff is written for white people, which is stupid. But you don't need a list of what colors you should wear, anyway. You just need to hold them up to your face and look in the mirror
Subtle differences in shade matter a lot
For example, I can't wear most yellow, but there are some shades of yellow I can wear
And one shirt I kept around for decades, for situations where a doctor was likely to give me the in your head bullshit. Because the shade makes me look real sickly 😂
AI6YR Ben
in reply to NilaJones • • •@NilaJones @gabbywheels Part of my reading this is to figure out colors... but he does not cover anyone near my skin tone. 🙄 And he says "you'll know it when you see it", which is ABSOLUTELY not true, because I have spent my life (even recently) with comments like "WHY ARE YOU WEARING THOSE TOGETHER?!" and "YOU'RE NOT GOING OUT LIKE THAT DAD, ARE YOU?!" It just does not come naturally to me.
That said, I do know the strongest color now for me (dark green). I actually could do purple, except purple is definitely calling attention to yourself (ie the purple jacket would look fine on me, but it would be a statement). The traditional color to go with my skin/hair tone (which I will not wear) is black... because it strongly suggests, ethnically, someone who is visiting from overseas vs. domestic, which is not great in this current US climate (and will get you hassled).
Mother Bones
in reply to AI6YR Ben • • •@NilaJones @gabbywheels
Ooh, if dark green and purple are good for you there's a good chance royal blue would be good, too. Also a bold red. (But that's a color statement not everyone likes to make!)
AI6YR Ben
in reply to Mother Bones • • •@_L1vY_ @NilaJones @gabbywheels Blue is a good question. I have been wearing a brighter blue set of shirts recently, and I realize it is actually NOT a good color for me.
I have a light green shirt, and a dark green shirt, and those shirts are the only ones where I get comments or compliments (which is why I think green is my better color). I think black would theoretically work, but I avoid it because it's definitely a "you are a tourist from overseas/foreigner" look for someone with my skin tone... definitely avoiding that right now, too.
J Miller
in reply to AI6YR Ben • • •@_L1vY_ @NilaJones @gabbywheels
So, I love that color of blue and I am very uncomfortable around bees. Bees love that color. Once I realized that and made all my bright, royal blue clothes indoor only, I have had much less trouble with bees.

I notice an effect of scents, too. I uncap a bottle of peppermint essential oil near me as a low key bug repellent. (I also dislike toxic bug spray). When I tried some floral essential oils for fun, definitely had bees in my face.
I always kind of expected bees would go for bright pinks and reds. That’s not it! Try the bright blue.

Then she would have her sets of color cards and be invited into a home where the hostess and all her friends were there for a color typing party. Anyone else remember these?
I’ll never forget this: a color is good for you when people say “YOU look great!” Instead of “That’s a wonderful dress/sweater/shirt”. It’s true!
I’m an artist so I personally like many earth tones. All along I looked better in blue/gray/purples and pink. I totally became a believer with clothes I wore in sales. I started buying business clothes at thrift stores in “my colors”. Days I wore them, I generally did well with my sales calls.
