That said, I wanted to provide a couple of corrections. When I problematize the term "AI", the goal is to get people to stop using it. "Many tools that use AI" doesn't mean anything. "Many tools that are sold as 'AI'" is okay. But more importantly: those study-aid podcasts systems are TRASH and nothing like automatic transcription tools.

Automatic transcription takes an audio signal and produces text. It's reasonably clear how to evaluate how well those systems work, both systematically (should we use this system for our purposes?) and in a particular use (is that really what was in the audio?).

The Local Seed Bank is twinned with Exeter Seed Bank in the UK. They have set up a fundraiser in response.

Corn growers are mostly giant corporations and the US grows way too much corn, in astonishingly large monocropped plains. Having a massive surplus of corn means they put it in everything, including petrol, trying to find uses for all of it. Its GMO. Its killing pollinators and butterflies.
Obviously I don't want small hold or organic farms to suffer, but if Trump reduces the acreage of corn and soy, he will help the environment by accident.
@celesteh all true, but the most likely outcome is that it'll be the small independent farmers that go under, and big corps will scoop up their assets further increasing capital concentration at the top.
Also, even if the whole corn industry does need to go away, this isn't going to be a controlled unwinding of it and will lead to a huge economic shock in the US.

I have considered some potential updates with variables for both WCAG and APCA to account for font size/weight variables. I’m just not sure I want to overcomplicate this.
Even if you visit a WCAG contrast checker website, they don’t show numbers for the 14/18-point breaks. They just note it. So I thought about adding it.

I'm in a newly and shinily renovated #VIRM train in The Netherlands right now. Back in the day when I was still forced to ride the train daily, there'd be a handle on the door, and a physical lock. But of course, that won't do in 2025. It's all controlled with electronics now.
