A group that infiltrated Microsoft’s headquarters building this week disputed the company’s account of the incident — describing their sit-in as nonviolent and saying the “listening devices” allegedly left behind were phones that fell from their pockets when they were arrested.“As Brad himself admits, if someone were to plant listening devices, this is not how they would do it,” said Hossam Nasr, one of the leaders of the group No Azure for Apartheid, referring to comments made by Microsoft President Brad Smith after seven members of the group occupied his office Tuesday afternoon. “If anything, we would like our phones back, please.”
The group, which is calling on Microsoft to cut ties with Israel over the alleged use of its technology against Palestinians in Gaza, also disputed the company’s assertion that its members do not represent elements of its workforce, and questioned the sincerity of Microsoft executives in addressing the issues the protesters have raised.

open protocols and interoperability mean we could have a universal social media network. this conversation is proof of that.
the question is what we want out of social media. I want it to be an attention layer for the web. that the best info, ideas and art can go viral based only on our collective decisions to share it, not the choices of big media owners or advertisers. that requires a shared decentralized network and near universal access. like we have with the web.

Andrew Graham-Dixon' art history/biography, Caravaggio: A life sacred & profane (2010) is one of the best artists biographies I've read (up there with Wulschlager's Monet), and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Balancing excellent commentary on the paintings with an account fo the artists life (and the interaction between the two), this book really does make you see Caravaggio anew. A compelling read!

@Flaky my impression is, that I have a harder time finding relevant cirkles for me on Bluesky. And I see the information design as a part of this problem. I find no real use in hashtags (too crowded often), where on Mastodon I’m way more in control of what I see and from which cirkles (being aware of different kinds of servers fx.).
But I can easily see why people can find what they look for on Bluesky, if the algorithmic nature supports the purpose of the user. It just doesn’t for me.
