Tariq either couldn't discern or didn't care about the difference between disagreement in the course of discussion of one topic and changing the topic. Let an ideologue derail a discussion about their favourite grievance, and that's all that will get discussed. The misdeeds of corporate Democrats go without saying and are off topic in this context. We talked about the burden of legacy that exists in Black families (usually in the form of the one family member who has been assigned that role of legacy keeper). I wear that double legacy in my family: enslavement on one side, colonialism and migration on the other.
