Veo en el mundo de la comunicación de la ciencia un constante apego (o adicción) a las redes sociales: se nos vende que no puede haber comunicación más que en las redes, y eso nos lleva a la carrera por la relevancia en ciertas redes, a las métricas o la forma en que se mide esa relevancia y el compromiso de la gente (engagement que le dicen). Nos (les) lleva también a una enfermiza búsqueda de la red de moda: ya nadie se acuerda de cómo se nos vendía que había que hacer divulgación científica en snapchat hace menos de 5 años y aquello ya ni se conoce por mucha gente.
El boom twitch para contenidos en línea (streaming) medio murió salvo que seas gamer, neonazi o Ibai o así. A X antes twitter le quedan unos telediarios porque al fin y al cabo la gente también tiene derecho a creerse que su 8.000 seguidores eran algo. Lo cierto es que la conversación sobre la ciencia se ha ido de ahí ya y eso no debería volver. Bluesky es definitivamente volver a tropezar en la misma piedra porque acabará siendo la misma mierda, tiempo al tiempo.
Tiktok es... eso: no entiendo que nadie pueda querer estar ahí salvo para el placer culpable de ver frikadas. Poner contenido ahí es jugar con sus cartas marcadas y sus reglas secretas y alterables. Y luego pretender que puedes tener éxito cuando eso no es más que flor de un día. De Linkedin ni digo nada, porque ahora el algoritmo es tan chungo que ni siquiera el sopor que producía merece la pena. Otras redes que no menciono son iguales...
¿Por qué aprender las mañas de redes propietarias con algoritmos perversos y pretender que así hacemos una buena comunicación científica? No, todo lo contrario. Dejemos las redes, las de algoritmos cerrados y software propietario, las mercantilizadas y las del odio. Es fácil y todas ganaremos (al menos tranquilidad y tiempo libre). Y podemos hacer divulgación y comunicación de la ciencia en otros sitios. ¿Las instituciones dejaron sus webs abandonadas? Pues volver a ellas, y a los blogs. Sea.

Yep, the winter in winter squash is because they're good storage vegetables!
Just remember to check on them at least once a month, so you can catch any moldy spots before the whole squash turns into a sludge bomb. (Ask me how I know... 🤢) When you're checking them, you may also notice if they're getting lighter = drying out. That enhances the stringy effect of spaghetti squash, but indicates the skin may not be protecting them perfectly anymore.
And if you're only going to be using part of a large squash, you can peel & cut the rest & freeze in raw chunks. Or if you're cooking & mashing it, might as well do the whole thing and then freeze the mash so it's ready for baking recipes or smooth soups.

In the Netherlands it seems like they've started calling gardens where people put down a big patio and there's no more green "versteend". Which is logical in dutch as it means "stonified" basically, but it also translates to "petrified", and I kinda love that? La p.iva avrà le sue magagne, ma sinceramente io team p.iva per sempre. Dipendere da altri nella mia esperienza si è SEMPRE rivelato un'enorme perdita di tempo. Anche quando guadagnavo benone. Questo ultimo impiego è stata la conferma della quale non avevo bisogno io, ma chi mi circonda. Che non mi rompesse più le palle nessuno.
