The CEO and top executives of the company I work for have been talking about layoffs like mad for the last couple of months. Explicitly ("layoffs"), but also with all the usual dehumanizing corporate jargon: "sacrifice", "pain points", "ultimate goals", etc.
They're also disabled our ability as workers to speak to each other online on a mass basis. When we meet in person we talk quietly among ourselves; we all seem to agree that the situation is unbearable. But nobody dares to stick their heads up. We all know what would happen to the first people to try.
Meanwhile our benefits are going down and the cost to us is soaring. Throw in doubled cost of groceries, housing, utilities, and household goods, and life has become pretty much impossible.
The only solution I see is revolution or at least a general strike. But the public just won't wake up to that.
