When Alexa launched in Italy, Amazon opened a contest for devs where if you wrote and published a Skill in their store they gifted you a brand new Echo.
Of course I wanted my free Echo so I thought of the simplest Skill I could imagine, a countdown. It's an Italian-only Skill and basically you ask Alexa to count from {number} and it goes from there to "...three...two...one..." and then a randomly chosen sound from their library.
I got my Echo, I was satisfied, and a couple of months later I got an email from Amazon because my Skill reached a minimum target usage, so they gifted me a bigger Echo. Apparently, a handful of people were really using my Skill to count down to New Year's Eve 😄
And so, from that moment on, every year in Italy there is someone who asks Alexa for a countdown to midnight and toasts to the sound of trumpets or stadium cheers, unaware that they are actually toasting with me.
And I toast with them, since they helped me win a free Echo 😄
BTW, the Skill code kinda fakes a timeout...it doesn't actually stick to the seconds, it just says the words and each word takes about a second...🤓

Please remember that was for the good of Europe, the chosen nuclear war theater for World War III by the Americans, so they had to have the nukes in place should the war be started surprisingly by the other side.
Feels great to be defended by the Americans because they need one as the place to turn into a nuclear wasteland. (Right, France & the UK would only get the indirect fallout; being themselves nuclear powers, they were not supposed to be directly targeted).
