I have met many quite different people in many different circumstances. I come from a working class family in industrial England, but I spent a lot of time as a child in a teaching hospital, with doctors and nurses who cared about other people, were well educated and took the time to include me in their research. I learned caring and science from them.
In the 1960s, the textile industry in Northern England began to collapse, at the same time a lot of people from India moved to the area and took jobs in the textile mills. I had a summer job in one of them, along with another teenager who was born in India but immigrated with his parents. We spent a lot of our spare time together and both learned something of each others’ cultures. Some of my fellow white Lancastrians were very angry with the immigrants, but I learned that they were wrong; the immigrants were different in many ways but those differences made life interesting and were to be celebrated.
I spent time on the west coast of Ireland, before the days of the Celtic Tiger. The people there were very poor. But they were really welcoming, including the people I met from the IRA. They said they liked English people. “It’s only your dirty, rotten government we don’t like”.
The same with people in small-town Mexico.
I’ve worked in several countries in Europe and North America. I have learned a lot from the people I worked with and most of all, I have learned that spending time with people of different colours, religions, genders and whatever can be an enriching experience.
Those who think otherwise are harming themselves as well as the people they have been taught to hate.

-uno sportello specifico per questa emergenza;
-un alloggio temporaneo pubblico per emergenza abitativa per tutte le persone che ne hanno bisogno;
-sospensione utenze e moratoria per i mutui prima casa;
-un contributo per l'autonoma sistemazione per le famiglie;
-garanzia di residenza per chi rischia di perdere diritti fondamentali;
-un piano immediato per il ripristino delle condizioni di sicurezza dello stabile;

One strange thing to me with all this rampant insider trading on Polymarket etc is why the gamblers themselves aren't loudly calling foul. These insiders are jumping in at the last second and diluting their winnings!
If I had $10 the coin flip was heads, you had $10 that the coin was tails, the coin is in the air, and someone bets at the last second $90 that the coin is heads (because they're friends with the magician pulling the trick), and turns out, the coin is heads!
Now I WOULD have won $10 on my $10 bet. But now I'm only walking away with $1. That sort of shit would make me take my business somewhere else.

I thought for example suppose there's some event like "US Bombs Iran in Feb" it's Jan, the current price is $0.1 per contract, each contract pays $1.
Now you think "there's a much higher chance than 10%, I'll buy $1000 worth". And someone else says "there's no chance... I'll take $0.1 for every $1 I have to put up no problem".
So then the counterparty puts $1000 in their account and sells you 1000 contracts for $100. And hopes to hold them through the end of Feb, and collect the $100.
You hope iran gets bombed and you collect the $1000 held in escrow.
It doesn't matter what else happens in the market... at the time you buy you've locked in your return.
Now, that's how things worked last I looked, maybe a decade ago... have they changed?

Yeah, placing a limit order definitely exposes you to insider risk. Im kinda surprised these markets have such depth, that you could buy/sell hundreds of millions of dollars worth in the 10 mins before you push the go button or whatever.
