Got 52 with English, and true people I love also say I am too analytical :blobcatroll:
it read English fine the feedback matches my response, but the content is short because I can't say much in 100 characters in English, I'm obviously the long essay kind of person.

But how did osamu also only got 52/100, that feedback looks much nicer than mine :blobcatstretchbottom:

The image displays a user interface with a dark background, featuring a radar chart and text in Japanese. The title at the top reads "人間らしさスコア" (Humanity Score). The radar chart has five axes labeled: 感情表現 (Emotional Expression), 一貫性 (Consistency), 経験の具体性 (Specificity of Experience), ユーモア (Humor), and 倫理的判断 (Ethical Judgment). The chart shows a red polygon with points indicating scores for each category: 感情表現 (35), 一貫性 (50), 経験の具体性 (55), ユーモア (40), and 倫理的判断 (80).

Below the chart, there is a list of scores next to each category. At the bottom, there is a section titled "評価コメント" (Evaluation Comment), which provides feedback on the overall simplicity and naturalness of the text, the lack of emotional expression and specific experiences, the difficulty in conveying unique perspectives and emotions, and the stability of the ethical aspect. The comment also mentions that there are no inappropriate contents and that the response structure is interesting, suggesting the user possesses thoughts beyond human limitations.

The image shows a social media post by Deborah Lupton, a SHARP Professor at UNSW Sydney, FASSA. The post is about actor Jeff Bridges publicly acknowledging contracting COVID-19 in a healthcare facility while being treated for lymphoma. The post highlights the impact of the COVID case on Bridges' health, which was worse than his cancer. It emphasizes the need for more well-known people to speak out about the risks posed by COVID, especially in the context of complacency, apathy, and ignorance. The post is timestamped 4 hours ago and has been edited. The background of the post is dark, and the text is white, making it stand out. The profile picture of Deborah Lupton is a circular image of her with gray hair and glasses. The "Follow" button is visible, indicating that the post is from a verified account.

Full moon rising, as seen in the mountains of southern New Mexico.

Compare this visible light/color version to an infrared/monochrome image from the previous evening.
universeodon.com/@KrajciTom/11…

This evening the sun had just set before the moon rose, so the terrain is not well illuminated. This makes the full moon the brightest object in the frame. Because the moon is near the horizon, we are looking at it through lots of atmosphere. This colors it orange/pink.

A diffuse band of cirrus is above the moon and it shows a slight hint of sunset orange.

Full moon rising - infrared/monochrome.

As seen in the mountains of southern New Mexico.

In near-IR the blue sky is rather dark, and trees/vegetation are almost white. Near-IR cuts through the haze, so the moon looks almost as if there is no atmosphere. (The trees are about 1/4 mile, 400 meters away...so they are slightly out of focus, but the moon is sharp.)

Camera is a modified Sony a6300, 400mm lens, 850 nanometers long pass IR filter. Image slightly cropped from entire frame.

The image depicts a full moon prominently displayed in the night sky, partially obscured by the silhouettes of tall evergreen trees. The moon is a bright, luminous orb with visible craters and surface details, casting a warm, orange glow against the dark blue backdrop of the evening sky. The trees, with their dark green foliage, create a natural frame around the moon, enhancing its prominence in the scene. The sky transitions from a lighter shade near the horizon to a deeper blue as it extends upward, with a few wispy clouds adding texture to the upper portion of the image. The overall composition emphasizes the contrast between the moon's brightness and the surrounding darkness, highlighting the serene beauty of the night.

If nobody wants them, are they really worth $800 million?

vice.com/en/article/tesla-repo…

in reply to Matthew Malthouse

Its not even cost .. Its just at list price. I mean maybe they are making a loss on every unit and they actually cost more. Who knows.
in reply to Tofu Golem

Having endured a few years of Economics and Economic History & Political Theory my personal view - They are worth only what someone is willing to pay for them - and given that Tesla aren't currently conducting reverse auction .. we just don't know. Its like the very famous cat in the box .. they are at once worth $800 million and also $0. Though they do remind me of the lines of EVs parked up in China with plants growing all over them or indeed the ghost towns of partially finished towerblocks.

I need help. I’ve been away from Mastodon a few days, and when I came back, my home feed is longer showing posts from followed hashtags. Only posts from my followed users appear now.

I can’t find anything in the settings to fix this. Whatever it is, I need an answer, as my feed feels desolate without new posts to discover.

Then again, who knows if anyone will hear this plea if non-followed users can’t see this post.

@DifferentDrummer
can you elaborate on the "plant food" part? I though you put moss into a mixer with a lot of water and spray that somewhere...
in reply to TripTilt /// tt

@TripTilt Essentially the guy I watched doing it as a kid many years ago used (chemical) liquid plant food, the stuff you buy at garden centres. I imagine the solid soluble equivalent is the same.

Essentially he painted in onto a brick wall, overlaying the slight residue of the day before, for several days. Not long after it started greening up.

I think it's all very different these days where people are going for 'installations.' Probably a lot more involved.

Trump will Preise für Medikamente senken

Hacker and free speech advocate Retro Guy has passed away.

I have been away from the Internet for at least a couple months. I came to quickly check my feeds and I am sad to have found report of the passing away of a very cool hacker, Thom Miller, known by the handle, Retro Guy. According to his wife Kaylen Miller, Thom died about two weeks ago from pancreatic cancer. He had a years-long struggle with cancer and multiple therapies and surgeries. During all the time of his illness he continued to hack away providing network access and software updates absolutely free to his user base. He was a strong believer in the value of open and decentralized communication for all. His software is simple and awesome, and useful for censorship-resistant communication. (gitlab.com/rslight-public/rock…)

Thom, known as Retro Guy, created the Rocksolid Light NNTP forums and server software. He served the hacker community as a free speech advocate and provider of free speech communication networking. He refused to censor opinions that he found offensive or stupid on the principle of the golden rule. He endured a lot of annoyances to provide service for many. Thom maintained the software for years giving web-based NNTP access to countless users. Thom was always helpful and patient with users needing assistance, even when he was feeling ill and suffering. He pushed through his pain to serve others with something he believed was a necessary tool and blessing for the general public.

I am sad to learn of Thom's passing. He will be missed and remembered. I will remember him by continuing to run his software.

Reading the color of money

Dollar bill validator

Ever wondered what happens when you insert a bill into a vending machine? [Janne] is back with his latest project: reverse engineering a banknote validator. Curious about how these common devices work, he searched for information but found few resources explaining their operation.

To learn more, [Janne] explored the security features that protect banknotes from counterfeiting. These can include microprinting, UV and IR inks, holograms, color-shifting coatings, watermarks, magnetic stripes, and specialty paper. These features not only deter fraud but also enable validators to quickly verify a bill’s authenticity.

[Janne] purchased several banknote validators to disassemble and compare. Despite varied exteriors, their core mechanisms were similar: systems to move the bill smoothly, a tape head to detect magnetic ink or security strips, and optical sensors to inspect visible, UV, and IR features. By reverse engineering the firmware of two devices, he uncovered their inner workings. There is a calibration procedure they use to normalize their readings, then it will analyze a bill through a sophisticated signal processing pipeline. If the data falls within a narrow acceptance range, the device authenticates the bill; otherwise, it rejects it.

Head over to his site to check out all the details he discovered while exploring these devices, as well as exploring the other cool projects he’s worked on in the past. Reverse engineering offers a unique window into technology Check out other projects we’ve featured showcasing this skill.

Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng described the China-US high-level meeting on economic and trade affairs as in-depth, candid, and constructive.

The two sides reached a series of major consensuses and agreed to establish an economic and trade consultation mechanism.

He called for a practical attitude, candid dialogues, and equal consultations to push for new development in China-US economic and trade relations.

in 2016 the party actively began responding to trump tariff rhetoric as a serious threat. They are well hedged to ride out US trade aggression for the four years of the present administration and are actively using Washington's failed foreign policy to drive belt and road development and emerging trade agreements with Japan and south Korea.
