It's still smacks of hustle culture. People are putting groceries on credit. There comes a point (which we've passed) where microeconomics, regardless of what you're putting on your toast, doesn't cut it. Childcare, medicine, and education costs are rising because people need higher wages. The big cash flow, though, is going to passive income, namely, /unregulated/ global digital & real estate investment companies.
Of course there's more we theoretically could do. IMHO the first step is alerting folks to what economics is, which is largely the study of power, not just money. One solid truth is that if you pool it together and organize it, it grows. Conversely, /not/ gathering around and working toward learning and its institutions is the definition of stupid. Not seeking to understand where the power is, where one's power is, is a choice of ignorance.
Also, IMO, pouring extreme resources into activities with high CTE rates is also stupid. My kid is going to a college with a lame-ass football team and throws all its scholarship funds into rewarding academic achievement.
