Sundance and Otter crushed it on our 35km hike up to his 3365m pass. Used the Lakefork Canyon approach, start 2200m. Never tired, good w other dogs we passed down low 👍🏽. Forest floors on SE-W aspects are very dry bu tundra above 3000m still moist. Not for long, warm/dry 14C NW wind up top. 31C when we returned to the 2200m start. The Lakefork approach is steeper than Wfork one, shaded on the return, very important. Saw one moose near Sept. Morn. Lake. #hiking #dogs #climate #montana #mountains

my dream if I had the money, Sundance Pass Organics, a natural food store. similar to Moon Lakes Organics which closed 2020 😩. this picture would display prominently.
3824m Whitetail Peak. 2021 the crevice melted out on it. we'll see if it holds this summer.

Questa è l'ultima di una serie di foto che monitorano il ghiaccio esposto da un nuovo cratere da impatto formatosi prima del 2012. Le macchie luminose e relativamente blu si sono continuamente ridotte nel corso del tempo

Un primo piano mostra tre immagini precedenti, tutte acquisite nella stessa stagione (primavera centro-settentrionale). Si noti che le immagini HiRISE sono allungate in base alla gamma di luminosità della scena, quindi le immagini precedenti hanno aree circostanti molto più scure perché il ghiaccio esposto è così luminoso. Il ghiaccio svanisce nel tempo, poiché il ghiaccio d'acqua sublima nell'atmosfera durante le stagioni calde, aiutato dalla polvere che si deposita nell'atmosfera per coprire il ghiaccio. In quest'area deve esserci ancora abbondante ghiaccio d'acqua pulito, a pochi centimetri dalla copertura di polvere.
