Got a somewhat interesting (and of course annoying) case of electrical interference.

I can't properly put the USB cables connecting the OrangePi (little pink box) to the printers in the cable channels on the right. Once I do the connection randomly fails, causing Klipper to abort anything it currently does.

I do wonder which cable causes it, or if it's a combination of the power cable, HDMI and all the other USB being bundled so rightly. 🤔

I've run into similar issues.
The stepper motors make a lot of electrical noise, and that could be picked up by the cables, causing voltage spikes and things that make all sorts of headaches.

Your best bet would be to pull a #hamradio trick and get a big ferrite core (search for "FT240-43") and wrap the wires around it. 2 or 3 wraps for each cable should solve the issue!

Image for context on what I mean

Clip-on ferrites might also work, but they tend to be of dubious quality most time.

in reply to Tom Swartz

@tswartz07 That's a cool trick, thanks! It's probably not the steppers though, the connection indeed is solid now that I routed the USB cable over the pegboard and along the heatchamber (closer to the motors, but not in the offending cable channel). Can't rule out some weird effect caused by the motors that then happen within the cable channels or sth. of course, these EM specifics go way over my head. 😅 I know just enough to realize there might be an issue.

We won't make it to Castelluccio di Norcia this year for the fioratura, but I do have wonderful memories of brilliant years past. This was from 2018, when we went at a particularly good time. It is one of the most breathtaking things I've ever seen. #Italy #Bloomscrolling

Yeah no shit, Trump's administration is racist

Edward Teller is mainly famous as the "father of the hydrogen bomb". But he wasn't dumb. He was invited to speak in 1959 at a big party in New York for the 100th birthday of the oil industry - a party put on by the American Petroleum Institute. Over 300 government officials, economists, historians, scientists, and industry executives were there.

And this is what he said:

‘”Whenever you burn conventional fuel, you create carbon dioxide.... The carbon dioxide is invisible, it is transparent, you can’t smell it, it is not dangerous to health, so why should one worry about it?"

“Carbon dioxide has a strange property. It transmits visible light but it absorbs the infrared radiation which is emitted from the earth. Its presence in the atmosphere causes a greenhouse effect …. a temperature rise …. sufficient to melt the icecaps and submerge New York. All the coastal cities would be covered, and since a considerable percentage of the human race lives in coastal regions, I think that this chemical contamination is more serious than most people tend to believe.”

Looking forward to next week's #Memory Studies Association conference in Prague.

I'm on a Day 3 panel called "Layers of American Memory" w Alison Landberg (George Mason), Christina Simko (Williams), and Jeffrey Olick (U. Virginia).

The title of my talk (something I've written about here) is: "America 250: The U.S. Semiquincentennial and Instrumental Uses of Historical Memory in an Era of Political Polarization."

Anyone else going? @histodons

The image features two individuals in formal attire, with one person placing a medal around the other's neck. The background includes a golden curtain and an American flag, suggesting a formal or ceremonial setting. The person on the left is smiling and adjusting the medal, while the person on the right has a more serious expression. Text overlays on the image read: "CONGRATULATING MY PLAYER ON CONQUERING MY DEADLY DUNGEON" and "THAT PLAYER ALSO BEING ME." The text implies a humorous connection between the formal event and a video game context.

"Perché io sono bergamasca, dammi quattro chiodi e due pezzi di legno e ti faccio su Notre Dame!"

in reply to Claudi 🧶

in reply to Claudi 🧶

in reply to Elena ``of Valhalla''

@valhalla @diegor noi la facciamo solo di mais! viene morbida ma non liquida tipo quella che trovi a Venezia e dintorni 🤭
