The #US government now does #bisexual #erasure. Lying about #trans people wasn’t enough, apparently.

erininthemorning.com/p/after-t…

The worst fear of every queerphobe is when cis hetero people start to feel empathy and solidarity with the #LGBTQ+ instead of hatred. That’s why they want to bury the truth. Because if the truth is out, the anti-LGBTQ+ #propaganda might stop working.

Well, let’s see if the current Supreme Court once again cramps civil procedure to stop this class action against the Trump regime’s birthright citizenship order. theguardian.com/us-news/2025/j… #LawFedi
in reply to Heidi Li Feldman

I'm 100% confident that they will. Lack of commonality, perhaps? A monolingual Spanish-speaking birthright citizen has suffered a substantively different injury than the U.S.-born kid of a couple of German neurosurgeons? I mean, that's BS, obviously, but the Supremes have been getting a lot mileage out of the principle that it's a lot easier to come up with some sort of half-assed justification for deciding the case the way you want to decide it when you don't have to worry about anyone reversing you. They've made it clear that they will do whatever it takes to avoid reaching the merits of the Fourteenth Amendment issue, because I don't think even they could find a way to read the amendment the way the government wants them to, and God forbid they should cause Trump the least bit of annoyance.

Can someone please help me decide which one should i be using — Mastodon or BlueSky? Which among the two is more open to diverse opinions? I don’t want any eco chamber like X but with opposite ideologies. #mastodon #bluesky #x

Q5: @MakersHour
In the Wokcracy we do six questions! (Hang on. Where’s Q5?) So, you're in a holodeck, what's the first thing you'd conjure? And yes, the Safe For Work filter is on.

A5: The Market Town of Theraton, so I can walk around and visit the places in #HarrietAndDaisy’s world. Even though I created it, it would be good to see it made real in the holodeck. It might be a bit odd to bump into Harriet and Daisy though, even though I would be Harriet’s landlord.

Brief Congress update: my very own district in "deep red east NC" has been drifting to the center for years.

It's flippable in '26.

I'm so ready for this, I'm doing FARM FACTS FOR KIM HARDY.

For every donation to this link I will post one (1) farm fact!

secure.actblue.com/donate/nc07…

in reply to Sarah Taber

Farm fact 1: the South makes biscuits because low-protein, high-starch wheats grow better here.

Bread & pasta need more protein (gluten) to get their shape. And high-protein wheat does NOT like it down here

Oblomov reshared this.

in reply to Sarah Taber

Farm fact 2: plant breeders are working on it!

They're breeding wheats that are high in protein, AND can handle swampy weather.

Appalachian Hard White is a new variety that's getting there- it did really well when I grew this test batch back in '22/23. Bc we happened to have a hot dry spring that year.

in reply to Sarah Taber

THE easiest fruit tree in east NC is figs.

I know we all think fig = desert but turns out they also love swamp weather.

Hardy Chicago's worked out really well in Fayetteville, plus it tastes REAL GOOD. (There are other good varieties for here, that's just the one I know best.)

in reply to Sarah Taber

Another A+ fruit for very part-time growers: ground cherries.

These little guys are like sweet pineapple-y tomatoes.

Since they come in their own biodegradable packaging, you can put them in a bowl on the table & they'll stay fresh for a WEEK

in reply to Sarah Taber

Something you would THINK would be good to grow in the South: water buffalo. They're from hot, steamy places. So they should love it here, right?

Yeah turns out not so much. They get overheated pretty easily. That's why they're always hanging out in the water 🥲

in reply to Sarah Taber

(Yes they can live in the South just fine. As long as they've got a swimming hole or sprinklers to cool off in.)

(relatable)

in reply to Sarah Taber

A crop that hasn't really made it to the South, even though it loves it [the weather] hot & sloppy: taro.

We grow it as an ornamental instead. You might know it as elephant ears?

in reply to Sarah Taber

The roots are a staple starch that makes good chips, iced teas, ice cream, & baked goods.

And taro leaves make good pot greens in the summer, when collards are on hiatus.

Taro ought to get along just fine in the US South in my humble opinion

in reply to Sarah Taber

Kudzu isn't THAT extreme of an invasive plant.

It doesn't "swallow forest," it just likes to grow along roadsides. Kudzu doesn't compete with live forest well at all.

smithsonianmag.com/science-nat…

in reply to Sarah Taber

"Kudzu's taking over everything!" is a sure sign of someone who's mostly taking in the landscape by car. : /

It's kinda like riding a train through a state & concluding that the entire state is poverty stricken. Nope...that's just the block or two next to railroad tracks.

in reply to Sarah Taber

Couple more farm facts!

ICE has been doing a lot of raids in Oxnard, Camarillo, & the general Ventura Co area in CA.

Not clear why they're focusing on this area, but Ventura Co is the first ring of farmland on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Maybe just conveniently located.

nbclosangeles.com/news/local/f…

in reply to Sarah Taber

Ventura Co is one of the US's biggest farm producers, cranking out 1.5B worth of fruits & nuts alone in 2022.

Over 1/5 of the US's strawberry acreage, and 1/3 of all US acreage of lemons & avocados, are in Ventura Co.

in reply to Sarah Taber

And a little at odds with the "California agribusiness giant" image, nearly 3/4 of the farms in Ventura Co are under 50 acres.

One-fifth of the farmers- not farm workers, FARMERS- in Ventura Co are Latino.
