Good morning. Hope you're having a good weekend. Fairly chill here today. Charlie goes back to school tomorrow. So there's an end of summer feel to the day.

Just hope the weather gets the memo.

Couple of pics from a walk right back at the start of 2024.

During a town hall Wednesday in Worth County, Iowans urged Hinson to “stop lying” after she claimed that the president’s key legislation had ushered in “higher wages” and an improved cost of living.

“Higher wages?” shouted one woman incredulously. “For who? For you?”

my next few months working on Plasma accessibility will involve:

- Touch gestures for desktop zoom
- Individual zoom level and tracking for each display on multi-display systems (if you enable it, some users may prefer it acting like one giant screen)
- Shape-aware upscaling for extreme zoom levels. Makes text appear far less blurry. I'll turn it off by default.

“Con il Padova la partita più difficile, senza i tifosi sarà un deficit”
Così l'allenatore della Carrarese Calcio Antonio Calabro alla vigilia del primo match al Dei Marmi dove i giallo azzurri giocheranno senza il tifo della Curva Nord Lauro Perini: gli ultrà rimarranno fuori dall'impianto per protestare contro i ritardi nella partenza dei lavori della "loro" curva.

Farms have lost 155,000 workers since March.

This is the "Jobs Paradox":

We want to protect American jobs, but Americans won't take these jobs. So crops rot, prices rise, and we import the food anyway.

When farms can't harvest crops, food rots in fields. Less supply plus steady demand equals higher prices at checkout.

Your grocery bill is about to explode.

Oblomov reshared this.

in reply to Andrew Lokenauth

Americans won't take those jobs for $7.25/hour--or less for unskilled piece-work or in certain states. Why earn $7.25 sweating your butt off and sleeping sore every night when you could earn the same $7.25 for light labor in an air-conditioned retail store?

#Israel has done everything and far more in only the past week, than anyone accused #Assad of ever having done.

In the past week, the Israelis have used #ChemicalWeapons #WMDs in #GazaCity, and carried out the #assassination of the #PrimeMinister of #Yemen. Imagine if that had been #Paris and #Macron, or if #Iran had done it.

States have been fully isolated, invaded, and overthrown for less. But Israel gets to keep doing it, and even gets help.

I stand with the general. Giving that traitor any honors is a f-ing disgrace.

As a Veteran, if I were on that guard post and the same scenario developed, with her jeopardizing the safety of the US House of Representatives, I would've dropped her a fly. #Traitor! rawstory.com/ashli-babbitt-267…

A recent Rand study found $79 trillion was stolen from the bottom 90% of income earners.

The problem in America is not a lack of abundance.

The problem in America is that a handful of oligarchs are hoarding all the abundance for themselves.

Small heartwarming thing: someone in a local neighbourhood group who has a sick kid at home, asking if anyone has a tree so he can buy some lemons off them. This is met with many offers of free lemons.

As a static site lover and JavaScript hater* I did one of those satisfied "heh heh" chuckles on reading the title of this:

*I only hate JavaScript when it's used unnecessarily client-side. Sometimes a sparing amount is useful there, and 11ty (which I love) uses JS on my computer to generate the static pages.
