In a 204-page report titled Voices of the Genocide, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (#PCHR) concluded that Israel has committed four of the five acts prohibited under the 1948 #Genocide Convention, with the intent to destroy #Palestinians in #Gaza as a group.
The report, released on Thursday, echoes others by Israeli and major international rights groups which also characterise Israel’s actions in Gaza as a genocide, and call for action to stop the most serious crime under international #law.
Sourani said that the suffering of the Palestinian people during the Gaza genocide is the worst since the creation of @israel
“Not even the 1948 #Nakba, with its brutal killings, forced displacement, and uprooting, nor the 1956 war and the 1967 Israeli occupation of the rest of its territory, the Sinai Peninsula, and the Golan Heights, can compare to the magnitude of destruction and bloodshed that Gaza is experiencing today,” he said.
Sourani also accused the #USA and western states of complicity in Israel’s actions.
Sourani, who is one of Gaza's most prominent human rights defenders and represents Palestine at international courts, told Middle East Eye the report came at a high cost.

Sometimes technology changes slowly, almost without notice. One small change here, one new requirement there... and suddenly you realize something important is gone. That something meant to be free and open starts looking like something completely different.
" title="
"/> Google announced that every app - even those outside the Play Store - will have to be signed by a verified developer. Officially, it's about security 🛡️ Malware, phishing, scams - all real threats. And yet, something about this decision doesn't sit right with me
Because if every app must be linked to a verified identity, submitted to and approved by " title="
"/>, then this is no longer a neutral environment. It's a centralized control structure, leaving no room for anonymity, independence, or alternative ways to develop software ⛓️
This isn't about users - they just want things to work ⚙️ It's developers who face the problem. Even if they don't want to give their data to a corporation, they'll be forced to. Formally, this change affects only certified devices, but in practice - no one is going to build apps just for custom ROMs. This is a system-wide shift. A forced one ⚠️
And it's just one sign of a bigger issue.
For months, " title="
"/> hasn't published the
Android 16 drivers for Pixel devices - something that used to be standard. No official reason. No communication. Just closed doors 🚪 This is a clear limitation of access and a lack of transparency for users and developers alike. Actions like this damage the trust that used to be the foundation
@GrapheneOS - a project built around 🔐 privacy, 🛡️ security, and 🌐 independence - has relied on Pixels as the base hardware for years. But today, they say it clearly: we don't want to be completely dependent on one company. That's why they've started working with another manufacturer, so they can support new devices in the future. Pixels will still be supported, but the future doesn't look as certain as it once did.
On top of that, Android's development process has already changed. The source code now lands in AOSP only after the official release - and not as a full repo with commits, but as a snapshot 📸 This practically eliminates the ability to track changes in real time or take part in the process.
And what about AOSP itself - what's left of open Android? I tested it myself, installing an unofficial build on a
Raspberry Pi. It works surprisingly well, but it's instantly clear how many components have been stripped out. So many features, services, and systems could be open - but
" title="
"/> simply doesn't include them. AOSP is now just a base - and without more, you can't build a real alternative.
So what's next? Is it time for " title="
"/> Linux Mobile?
I don't think so - not yet Android - despite being more and more centralized - still offers a level of 🛡️ security that Linux in its basic form can't match. But if this trend continues, if control keeps growing at the cost of openness, we'll have to seriously consider that path sooner or later.
For those interested - I'm including a few screenshots at the end from my AOSP install on It's not a fully functional environment, but it definitely gives you something to think about

‘How can the world be silent about Gaza?’ – Greta Thunberg
Swedish activist Greta #Thunberg has also spoken at the Global Sumud Flotilla press conference.
“The question here today is not why we are sailing. The story is not at all about the mission we are about to embark. The story here is about Palestine,” she said. “The story here is how people are being deliberately deprived of the very basic means to survive and the story here is how the world can be silent.”
