The Ethernet part comes in different speeds, and so does the WiFi. So it very much depends.
To be more precise: For home networks, I think ethernet usually runs up to 2.5 Gbit/s and Wifi to ~3 Gbit/s, but they keep adding new standards. I've more or less lost track these days.
USB 3 has a max speed of 5 Gbit/s, so the high end 10 Gbit/s + range is too fast either way. Wifi speeds drop at lower signal quality, which can be a challenge. Ethernet is dependant on cable quality and distance too.
The stuff Veronica says is all true. But the UE300 from tplink works well and is reliably 1Gbps while WiFi varies in speed and latency through time. If all you care about is bulk data transfer (because youre copying everything off some hard drive say) then the highest end WiFi might be able to do that faster but the UE300 is reliable, low power and what I use in multiple real world deployments.

I have 500 Mbit/s internet and got 504/512 on ethernet and 497/503 on WiFi, down/up speed.
So I guess no difference there. ๐
