Il progetto di una Biblioteca Europea di Informazione e Cultura ha un quarto di secolo, ma la nuova BEIC, che si presume completata nell'autunno del prossimo anno, non somiglia poi molto (non potrebbe essere altrimenti) al disegno che prese forma agli albori del 2000.
L'attuale concept è del 2021, il concorso internazionale di progettazione è arrivato

The sand battery is simplicity itself. “We just heat air and circulate it through sand,” says Liisa Naskali, COO of Polar Night Energy. Sand, or other material crushed to sand-size, has the ability to store heat for weeks. Unlike other batteries, the system doesn’t rely on chemicals, doesn’t degrade, and won’t catch on fire. In operation, the sand battery has demonstrated a round-trip efficiency of 90%.
