Anaesthesia was practiced from about 1840, with Nitrous Oxide and then Ether.
Neither would be very good for a Gynae examination, nor would most women expect it even now.
However, quite soon they were making it more practical to do something about many surgical conditions.
Devices tend to be worked out fairly well, for function and form, and using available materials, quite soon after the need becomes apparent.
Nice that someone is working with newer materials and fits.

Matt Godbolt recently spoke at #ACCU2025 about -- amongst other things -- using C++ modules for his 'zx spectrum emulator'.
He put a good face on it, but to me it sounded like a complete shit show.

Ukraine firing FP-5 "Flamingo" cruise missiles at unspecified location. The missiles have 3000 km range and 1150 kg warhead, making a significant difference in Ukraine's offensive capabilities, which were until 2025 largely based on small uncrewed civilian airplanes carrying explosive charge of up to 250 kg. Russia tried to discredit the Ukraine's rocket program by claiming all its plants had been destroyed by "precision hits" or that the missiles don't exist at all. This video, and the previous "Neptun" video confirms Ukraine not only managed to complete the program but is using these missiles in routine combat operations.
