O "chat control" consiste numa monitorização das plataformas de comunicação por mensagens que visa, segundo a União Europeia, combater o abuso sexual infantil na internet.
Num discurso de cerca de 30 minutos no jantar-comício que marcou a "reentrée" política da Iniciativa Liberal, Mariana Leitão focou as críticas no Governo, apontando falhas na gestão dos incêndios, na habitação e na incapacidade de avançar com reformas estruturais.
"Como se não bastassem todos os falhanços crónicos do Estado, vemos agora uma ameaça ainda mais grave: o Estado a tentar impor-se sobre a nossa liberdade mais básica", disse Mariana Leitão.
Perante uma plateia de cerca de uma centena de militantes, a líder da IL destacou a proposta do PSD e Chega, que vai permitir que a Polícia Judiciária "possa censurar conteúdos na Internet sem a intervenção de um juiz".
"Já vimos isto noutros países: à boleia de combater o terrorismo, abrem mecanismos de censura expeditos aplicados pela polícia. Poderes para apagar ou bloquear conteúdos online sem autorização prévia de um juiz", apontou."

Entre os bens patrimoniais declarados constam seis imóveis urbanos — incluindo a casa em Espinho e um apartamento em Lisboa — e 46 prédios rústicos herdados da família.
O CM acrescenta que Montenegro opôs-se à divulgação pública das informações em quatro das cinco declarações de rendimentos entregues à EpT desde abril de 2024, e o número da matriz dos imóveis, que é relevante para conhecer a escritura pública da compra e venda de um imóvel, foi removido em quatro dessas declarações."
