Are you tired of missing a demonstration because the algorithm only shows you rubbish? Are you worried that the organisations you follow need to censor what they write so that their accounts don't get shut down? Or maybe you refuse to use the big platforms, but find it difficult to know what's going on in town?
Sociala medier underifrån (social media from below) is a Gothenburg-based campaign by a few left-wing and queer organisations that want to help fill alternatives to the networks of the evil tech giants with life. The participating organisations will use the alternatives Mastodon and Mobilizon (which this website is based on), which are non-commercial social networks by and for us. In this workshop, we will talk about why we need these alternatives and show you how to use them in practice! No prior knowledge is required, we will learn step by step together! Feel free to bring a mobile phone or laptop if you can – then you can create an account right away.
We will take plenty of breaks and there will be food and snacks during the workshop. Pre-registration is not required, but it helps us estimate how much fika we need to prepare.

Är du trött på att missa demon för algoritmen bara visar dig skit? Är du orolig över att organisationerna du följer behöver censurerar det de skriver för att deras konton inte ska bli avstängt? Eller vägrar du kanske de stora plattformar, men tycker det är svårt att veta vad som händer i stan?
Sociala medier underifrån är en Göteborgs-baserat kampanj av några vänster och queerorganisationer som vill hjälpa till att fylla alternativ till de onda techjätternas nätverk med liv. Organisationerna som deltar i kampanjen kommer använda alternativen mastodon och mobilizon (vilket denna webbsida baserar på), som är icke-kommersiella sociala nätverk av och för oss. I denna workshop pratar vi om varför vi behöver dessa alternativ och kommer praktiskt visa hur du kan använda dem! Ingen förkunskap krävs, vi tar allt tillsammans steg för steg! Ta gärna med en mobil eller laptop om du har möjlighet - så kan du direkt skaffa ett konto.
Vi kommer ta gott om pauser och det kommer finnas mat- och kakfika under workshoppen. Föranmälan krävs inte, men hjälper oss att uppskatta hur mycket fika vi behöver fixa. Denna workshop kommer vara hållas på engelska om någon av deltagarna önskar det, men vi hjälpas åt om språket ställer till.

Tetris CEO admits to purposely hiring more women — says women are 'overqualified,' while men are 'winging it'
Tetris CEO Maya Rogers defended the use of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs as a force for good in order to diversify workplaces.
Rogers is the daughter of Henk Rogers, the video game developer who first secured the rights to distribute Tetris to gaming console companies.
'There needs to be something that is almost enforced to make sure that there are enough women in the industry.'
In an interview with Games Industry, Rogers said that people don't believe she runs the Tetris company when she tells them.
"They see a youngish-looking female, and they don't believe you, or they don't think that you run Tetris, or whatever," she told the outlet. "But I guess it's never really fazed me."
After saying that the industry should not be dominated by men, Rogers made strange claims about the difference between male and female applicants. Despite saying "of course" she has faced sexism in her industry, the CEO went on to say that men are trying to get jobs by "winging it," while women are "overqualified."
"Men show up to the table, and they're kind of winging it, right? Guys are really good at winging it. ... Women show up overqualified because they're like, 'Oh my gosh, am I good enough for the job?'"
Rogers added, "We've got to put ourselves out there, and be OK to be vulnerable."
Games Industry cited Rogers as having "made a point of increasing the number of women working at the Tetris Company" as well.
Rogers explained, "When my father was running the business, it was more male. And now we have a lot of women, and it's great. We're doing amazing things. Girls can do it all."
The 47-year-old then championed DEI programs and said there needs to be assurances to get women into the gaming industry.

"That in itself in America today is a thing that's being questioned," she said about DEI programs. "But I think that was so important to have, because it did change how many people of diversity, [of] different backgrounds, were allowed in the workplace."
More directly, Rogers said, "There needs to be something that is almost enforced to make sure that there are enough women in the industry," and women in powerful positions need to "be out there, being vocal, [and] inspiring people to fight for their rights."
To further her point, the CEO said that women are still battling for change, before claiming that women "came together" to fight "for their rights," which she believes still needs to happen.

Overall, the idea of a male-dominated gaming industry did not seem to sit will with Rogers, who said, "It shouldn't be that way," and, "Women need to be given a chance."
"There's so many women playing games, and we're still having mostly men designing games," she concluded. "That doesn't make any sense at all."
In 2020, CNBC cited a study by the International Game Developers Association that showed 71% of video game developers in the world are male. In 2022, a report for U.S. gaming developers by the Gamer said that 76% of developers in the United States were male.

Most rail journeys in Great Britain will be under public ownership by the middle of next year, Labour’s Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has announced.
By the middle of next year eight in ten services will be run by the public, for the public.
West Midlands Trains services will transfer on 1 February 2026 and Govia Thameslink Railway’s services on 31 May 2026. Chiltern Railways and Great Western Railways (GWR) services will then be the next to transfer.

But that’s not the point! I’m so fucking tired of a system that, at best, generates fascism for poor people at home and brown people abroad while constantly dangling the threat of fascism for everyone else.
I don’t need to “prove an alternative that would work.” I want to burn it all down. If you oppose fascism, you cannot simply hope for that one magical election, that one magical candidate, who will restore a fascism-generating system.
