“Three days of tense protests – which saw demonstrators clash with police, who responded by firing tear gas – ended when MPs agreed to scrap the car purchases and cancel their lifetime pensions if the students ceased their demonstrations.”

demonstrators in East Timor win over that state. it can be done. they are an inspiration to us all. 🫡

so we were watching a video essay about Spongebob being gay. and naturally the question came up if dressing up/cosplaying as Spongebob would be furry? Dressing up as Sandy would certainly be. Dressing up as Squidward is thin ice…but a sponge?

  • yes it’s furry (based) (60%, 9 votes)
  • no it’s not furry (please explain) (40%, 6 votes)

Ubuntu Touch was a missed opportunity. It has the potential to make Linux mainstream on touch devices.

Hope that when foldable phones become the new norm, we can have a full Linux distro in one of them.

If it weren't so sad, it'd be funny that the libs can try and negotiate their policies and positions with themselves and somehow still lose.

"We hate ourselves more than we hate the conservatives" ain't really a platform that inspires confidence in your ability to govern.
in reply to Jess👾

You have one job:

Vote no until you extract major compromises. That's it. It's really not that hard. You don't even have to come up with a platform until an election year. Just say "whatever they're doing? Not that."

You know, play the exact same game that Republicans do when they're in the minority.
in reply to Jess👾

The shutdown game is all about public perception played out in the media, not reality.

Dems *should* use every means available to block every possible GOP initiative. By and large, though, the public won't know or care that any of that is going on, no matter how many press conferences Dems hold or how many times Dems tweet.

Dems need headlines that say "Republicans Provoke Shutdown" not "Congress Shuts Down Government."

in reply to Jess👾

truly in their nature to always try to find the position that everyone will hate equally

The image features a social media post from "Financian" with a headline stating, "Samsung is putting ads on its $1,800 refrigerators." The post discusses Samsung's Family Hub refrigerators in the US displaying ads on idle screens after a software update. The ads can be dismissed but not fully turned off, and disconnecting from the internet disables smart features. The image shows a Samsung Family Hub refrigerator with a large touchscreen display on the door, showcasing various ads. The refrigerator is in a modern kitchen setting with a window in the background. The text "FINANCIAN" is prominently displayed at the bottom of the image, emphasizing the source of the information.

I don't know if this is how things work for other Fediverse apps, but on Mastodon, if you reply to someone's post and remove their tag in your reply they won't be notified about the reply so there's a good chance they won't see it.
Therefore, if you're trying to have a conversation with somebody, leave the tag in.
If you're dunking on them and trying to hide your reply so others will see it and they won't, that's shitty; don't do that.

Here’s another common problem I ran into with the 16 Pro’s thermals:

Charging past 80%.

If I was, for instance, tethering on a train ride and I wanted my phone to be as charged as possible when I arrived for the day ahead, I often couldn’t get it to go past 80% — over a cable, not wireless! — without using a ridiculous thermoelectric-fan-cooling setup.

Trump is calling Portland "war ravaged" and is speaking about facilities under attack from "antifa". He is a complete lunatic but ofcourse his MAGA followers will like to believe this is true....

in reply to Erik Jonker

"GOP" better thinks again about what they did to the nation putting a mentally totally incapacitated psychopath onto the president's seat, whose lunatic messages are spit by his secret Secretary of Hate, Stephen Miller.
It's in "Republicans'" hands to free this country & the world from this insane national security threat in White Madhouse, and they better do it quick to keep the crazy terrorism prince in Oval Office from unleashing nationwide bloodshed, the greatest beneficiary of which will only be Vladimir Putin.
"...
"Unlike normal aging, which is characterized by forgetting names or words, Trump repeatedly shows something very different: confusion about reality," he wrote in a statement published on Friday, which referenced Trump's confusing Barack Obama with Joe Biden.

"If he were to become president he would have to be immediately removed from office via the 25th Amendment as dangerously unable to fulfill the responsibilities of office," Dodes, who is also a distinguished fellow of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, added, citing the 1967 mechanism that allows for a president to be removed due to unfitness.
