Mutterns günstiges Laserdrucker-Scanner-Multifunktionsgerät klagt schon seit längerem über Tonermangel.
Ich bestellte also einen Fairtoner, das Original von HP ist dem Schwaben zu teuer. Heute eingebaut. Natürlich motzte der Drucker gleich ob der Nicht-HPigkeit des Toners.
Ergebnis: Der Drucker druckt mit weniger Schwarz-Deckung als mit dem leeren Original-Toner. Sieht einigermaßen schlecht aus, die Ubuntu-Testseite.
Außer natürlich, und damit hat HP wohl nicht gerechnet: Wenn man den Drucker über sein eingebautes Bedienfeld dazu bringt, seine eigene, interne Testseite zu drucken. Die sieht richtig gut aus, mit ganz sattem Schwarz.
HP ist damit für mich auf der grauen,… pardon,… schwarzen Liste der zu vermeidenden Kackhersteller angekommen.

A decade ago, I was an invited expert at a meeting to review the technical architecture of a £330m fraud detection system for Universal Credit at the UK Treasury.
My conclusion was that the proposal was not only massively over-priced (basically fraud-levels of overcharging), but that the system as designed would obviously have issues where automated decisions would leave vulnerable people in dire straits, against the legal requirements.
