The image is a black and white drawing of a person sitting at a desk. The person is leaning forward with their hands on the desk, and their head tilted down. They have short, spiky hair and are wearing a shirt with a dark collar. A laptop sits on the desk in front of them, and to the right of the laptop there is a small, round object. There is text on the right side of the image that reads: "Ideas". The background is a simple gray.

The image shows a close-up shot of a white toilet with a closed lid in a bathroom setting. On the wall to the left of the toilet, there is a white dispenser holding rolls of toilet paper and a bottle of cleaning fluid labeled "SYPHON - JAVEL." A white sign with a red circle containing a stylized "no" symbol is affixed to the wall above the toilet. The background is blurred, suggesting a shallow depth of field, and seems to show a portion of a wall or possibly a shower curtain. The lighting appears to be diffused and even.

Sony WF-C510 connected on Linux, but never recognized as a headset

I've been fighting with my Sony WF-C510 for days.

I've tried it on Ubuntu, Debian, and Linux Mint. Same result every time: It connects successfully, but never shows up as an audio output device.

I even bought a USB Bluetooth dongle, thinking my laptop’s chipset was the problem... but nope. It still connects as a device, not a headset.

I’ve restarted Bluetooth services, switched from PulseAudio to PipeWire, and tried every "set-card-profile" trick from AI and forums, but nothing works.

Has anyone actually managed to get a Sony WF-C510 working properly on Linux?

It's clear this is purely Sony's fault for not caring about or supporting Linux drivers. Are they just ignoring the entire platform at this point?

Any workaround or success story would save my sanity.

Distros Tested: Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 12-13, Mint 22
Issue: Connects, but no A2DP/HSP profile visible

Linus Torvalds Gives Nvidia the Finger. Literally.

Linux creator Linus Torvalds isn't happy with Nvidia. And he wants you to know it.

Late last week, at a hacker meetup in Finland, Torvalds laid into Nvidia, calling it "the single worst company" the Linux developer community has ever dealt with, complaining that the chipmaker doesn't do as much as it could to ensure that its hardware plays nicely with his open source operating system. He even turned to the camera filming the event, flipped the company the proverbial bird, and dropped the proverbial F bomb.

Absolute fucking legend!

its not a tiktok sale and i dont understand why media keeps repeating this. they're licensing the algorithm to a new spun off us company silo'ed from the rest of the world.

also tiktok has been garbage slop forever anyway.

I mean it already is the biggest superspreader of far right content in Europe and I would assume in the US as well. But please don‘t come with anecdotes about your TikTok experience because it‘s the most personalized content platform so it‘s irrelevant what your feed looks like right now. I‘m saying this because often times at least one TikTok user will rush in to defend the platform with their personal experience whenever this is brought up.

Auditioning knights to ride the Primary Tech polar bear. Also, took me a while to figure out where burst mode went. No longer a press and hold, but a press, drag down or left, then hold.

RT @RnaudBertrand
This is beyond parody: the EU has come up with a "cloud sovereignty framework" to make EU tech more sovereign and they've notably devised a "sovereignty score" to determine whether a particular cloud provider is sovereign or not (which will then determine if they get government contracts).

So far so good.

The problem however is that the way this sovereignty score gets calculated actually gives HIGHER scores to AWS, Microsoft, and Google than to European cloud providers.

This is because the formula to calculate the score (full details here: commission.europa.eu/document/…) absurdly allocates only 10% weight to "legal & jurisdictional sovereignty" (i.e., being actually a sovereign EU actor), while giving 65% combined weight to operational capabilities, supply chain documentation, and technical standards - precisely the areas where AWS/Azure/Google's massive scale gives them advantages over European providers. You can be completely subject to foreign legal jurisdiction but still score excellent overall.

EU cloud companies suspect this is intentional: the framework gives the EU bureaucratic cover to keep their existing contracts with US companies ("look, they got an excellent sovereignty score!") rather than forcing the politically difficult work of actually migrating to European infrastructure.

A sovereignty framework that prevents sovereignty, that's the EU for you...

The image shows a close-up portrait of a person with fair skin. They are wearing a dark suit with a light-colored tie. The person has short, neatly combed dark hair. Their expression is one of concern, with their hand raised to their forehead as if to shield their eyes or show distress. The background is dark and blurred, with what appears to be a red pattern, perhaps geometric or abstract, behind them. There are no visible markings or text in the image.
