Back in 2005, working in an office, this warbler kept landing outside one of the engineer's window. I'd hang out in his office with the DSLR and long lens trying to catch it, but it didn't show up. Finally I showed the engineer how to use the DSLR and lens, set it up on a tripod, and left him to it.

No matter what you write about, or how many people read it, there will always be people who don't -get- the story you write.
And they will wander through life without having the proverbial punch line to the joke.
They won't get it, they never will get it, and you shouldn't let that get you down.
You write for yourself first, and your readers who do get it second, or you're doing yourself a disservice.

The fact that some people won't understand what you wrote about, and will sometimes entirely misconstrue the punch line in an effort to make your writing fit their preconceptions, should amuse you rather than dissuade you.
You know what it meant to you when you wrote it, and you put it out there for likeminded souls to find, and that's the most important thing.
You and the group of people who do get the gist of what you meant to convey share that understanding between yourselves.
