I found a new favorite place on today's stream walk (topic: meditation). I took screen caps to identify these flowers later. The white is southern dewberry, a species of flowering plant in the rose family (Rosaceae) native to the southern United States and northern Mexico. The yellow vine is false jessamine. A huge one grew up a tall pine in my childhood backyard, scattering blossoms & sweet perfume. Third pic shows the general landscape around the path.

I finally watched "Sex, Lies, and Videotapes" directed by Soderbergh. I remember I used to own the VHS too but never managed to watch it.
Well, it was a nice watch in terms of performances and direction, but the film felt dated to me. As in I don't relate to the dynamics of the characters, which reminded me of my parents' generation.
Then I thought that although it's not my reality (luckily) it's still a reality for many.
I've never heard of that movie. The synopsis I found didn't give away much about the style, like it could be cheap&voyeuristic or super arthouse. Was it a "regular" 80s movie (although maybe dated, as you say?).
@compfu nah it's pretty good in fact. It won Cannes in 1989. It's not a regular Hollywood movie, neither for the direction or the editing or even the plot. But it's still a "regular" film, nothing artsy.
Again, the more I think about it the more I like it in the end, it's just that there are some cliches that rubbed me wrong.
I literally can't stop screaming in my pillow about people who heavily rely on hashtags being dubbed "spam" by overbearing algorithms/moderation that shadowban a group of people broadly and randos with a personal vendetta (regardless whether an algorithm is present on a given social network or not)
when certain users engage in actual deceptive behavior like *checks the trending feed* claiming to give away free laptops/appliances and then not bothering to be transparent and reveal that the offer is restricted to academics living in a specific region (unless users actually click on the link and investigate the fine print further)
No better than actual spammers who post get-rich-quick schemes in the comments to multiple unrelated posts...

In revenge for the pure blood of the leader of the Muslims, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Sayyid Ali al-Husayni Khamenei, may his sacred soul be protected, who was unjustly and treacherously shed by the criminal Zionist enemy, and in defense of Lebanon and its people, and within the framework of responding to repeated Israeli aggressions, the Islamic Resistance targeted, in the middle of the night between Sunday and Monday, 2 March 2026, a salvo of precision missiles and a squadron of drones at the Mishmar HaCarmel missile defense site of the Israeli enemy army south of the occupied city of Haifa.
The leadership of the Resistance has always affirmed that the continuation of Israeli attacks and the assassination of our leaders, youth, and people gives us the right to defend and respond at the appropriate time and place.
