4/ societies built on immorality. To ascribe the inequities of our society onto the entire universe is narrow minded hubris. I can understand taking comfort from the adage. We know that the moral stances we take may not bear fruit until after we have passed. Belief that the arc is long & bending towards justice offers solace & encouragement to try our best anyway. My critique stems from a separation of means & ends. It is always the time to do good works, no matter the results, now or ever.

Fedi weirdness broke the thread. If I had piece of mind this would evolve into a longer essay on peace of mind vs. cognitive dissonance being the core driver of human behavior.

In a toot conversation a month or so ago I compared my self care to the lack of societal progress, because I see so many others also suffering even if they appear privileged. It's all relative.
