NNTP and XMPP decades of federation and decentralization - tcpreset.net

Virebent.art and its friend domain tcpreset.net has been thinking a lot lately about going back to protocols that never needed to be reinvented. NNTP and XMPP have been quietly working for decades, federated by design, owned by nobody, and we think it's time to actually use them again instead of just admiring them from a distance.

We run a Usenet server at news.tcpreset.net reachable in plain text on the classic port 119 and also over Tor at this onion url: peannyjkqwqfynd24p6dszvtchkq7hfkwymi5by5y332wmosy5dwfaqd.onion .

Port 563 with TLSv1.3 security is also available.

You can read and post to newsgroups without authentication, freely.

Alongside that we're running an XMPP chat server at jabber.tcpreset.net/ and you can create an account straight from your browser at jabber.tcpreset.net/register/, no invite needed, just show up and start talking.

Come try it out, federation is more fun with company.
