As an enthusiast of the 2000s, and as a first project, making an opensource/remake/tribute to the Spineworld aesthetic, was crucial for me. As in 15years after its disparition, no content has taken the same path, artistically, and maked art which evocates the same atmosphere.
Since no one has done it, i'll try to make something in the same vibe but in a creative commons licence, so it don't breaks any intellectual property
I'll try my best, as I am learning graphism
And i'll post progress here

oh what universe is this from I have memories that this brings back!

omg it gives so much Spineworld vibes! Aw the nostalgia. 😌

why post in English and have Alt Text in another language? I know enough French to recognise the word language but not enough to understand.

I see some resemblance to Howl's moving castle...but gingerbread style 😆
Nice work! 👍

@hyde It is a Spineworld asset I try to implement adhoc on a java home-made 2.5d engine, but it is still in early phase, I will put a repository on a gitlab soon
in reply to Cablefish

@Cablefish Spineworld 🙂☺️ It was a multiplayer flash game (on navigator) of mid 2000s (2008-2010) Really ahead of it's time. Artists were unfortunately not saved for later work, and it closed for financial reasons (despite what the artist team has planned creatively)
in reply to Cablefish

@Cablefish Now I'm more working on data structure and inter-operability, for it to be ported to specifics engines (godot, unity, or a java specific one, i'm focusing, for learning purpose) and networks proxy (learning how to create data bridges and communication between clients with differents engines, but same network structure)
But Godot is a really good engine, and open one, which is not the case of unity 🤔😅
in reply to Cablefish

@Cablefish I'll tell you if I make huge progress (in the next months) on a implementation on Godot, friend 🙂
in reply to Antykeles

Thanks! It's just i need it to be Godot if I'm to contribute anything other than playtest and maybe a bit of writing.

Sounds like you're doing the right thing for now. Networking and architecture needs to come first in any project of this scope.
