@phabrizio A company that pays artists peanuts, pays Joe Rogan millions, and is run by people who invest in military AI.

why is the EU supporting fucking Spotify?
artists across Europe want Spotify to die and rot
in reply to European Commission

So you want people to create accounts with "#Spotify", a predatory company that gives mere pennies to most artists, to fill the pockets of a few.

Which other streaming services are you partnering with, to funnel people into their signup processes?

spotify? That thing that doesn't properly pay the artists and the owner is paying for bombs on gaza and whatever other horrible stuff? NO THANKS. But i know we can't expect better from you lot.
in reply to European Commission

Terrible. Terrible that by the end of 2025 you would still see fit to promote ANYTHING through a nasty platform like Spotify.

Do better.

in reply to European Commission

you should promote #eu data sovereignty and not link to #usa Spotify that rips off artists

@⊥ᵒᵚ Cᵸᵎᶺᵋᶫ∸ᵒᵘ ☑️ Spotify is technically Swedish, so European. The fact that it donated to the Trump campaign and actively contributes to IDF is makes it one of the darker-sided European companies (on par with Nestle fwiw).

Edit: oh, and the fact that artists are paid fractions of pennies for each stream.

You were SO CLOSE to making a good point here, and then you used a FUCKING SPOTIFY LINK.
in reply to European Commission

Cool idea, @European Commission

And I also like that you picked one of the few #European giants that we have. Could you, please, in light of the fact that #Spotify donated to the inauguration of the first US president to work towards disbanding the current European construction (among other unethical actions taken against the #artists and the people in #Gaza ), support one of the other European streaming platforms instead? Let's say #Qobuz if we were to pick the most ethical option or #Soundcloud if you want it to be listenable across all the EU countries including mine?

I don't think I'm asking for much since these platforms have a fairly large audience too.

Thank you and #fckspotify !

Edit: and coming from a Romanian, please include this song too: youtube.com/watch?v=WD8XhSjk4a…

Please make a playlist on www.qobuz.com too.

The only truly privately held European music streaming company.

just stop promoting Spotify. I don’t care they are an EU Cie. They don’t care about artists and just promote AI generated crap #ai #artists
in reply to European Commission

If you'd drop chat control/protectEU that would be music to my ears.

Nice to hear from you. I think #deezer is probably less controversial at the moment (and European).

And please grant us our Christmas wish so well captured in words by @_elena : mastodon.social/@_elena/115762…

Put a Mastodon link in your web footer. Just like bundestag.de already has.

RE: ec.social-network.europa.eu/@E…

Oh we have the same wish @EUCommission

I think it'd be a powerful move if you deleted your X account (a platform that has become a vector of misinformation and a cesspool of hate).

By the way, your homepage states: "Follow us on" followed by the icons of Facebook, X and LinkedIn. I always found it odd, since those are algorithm-based U.S. companies and you are the EUROPEAN Commission. How about putting your Mastodon icon on your homepage?

Thank you for your consideration
