I had a terrible thought with all this vaccine fascism happening. I really hope these kooks don't decide that animals don't need vaccination. Rabies nation?

@CindyWeinstein
Too late. There are folks who have decided not to give their pets rabies vaccines because they fear it'll give their dogs autism.

It's exactly as stupid and destructive as it sounds.

Of course they're not vaccinating their dogs. What utter idiots. Maybe the Congress people talking to RFK today should ask him about vaccines for pets. I'm seeing an Onion article but it's all too real and not funny.

@theogrin A friend of mine was recently bitten by her neighbor’s dog, and has to undergo a rabies series because the owner hasn’t vaccinated the dog. I don’t know their reasoning, but the result of their negligence is a costly and painful series of shots for my friend. Thankfully, the treatment no longer requires shots in the stomach. @CindyWeinstein @GottaLaff

@CindyWeinstein I just wish more people would use Bridgy. I keep getting sent stuff that I post there, but maybe not here.

I can't keep track. That's why I started to use Bridgy, to avoid that, but it's not working. People refuse.

There are apps that can cross-post to multiple platforms, including Bluesky and Mastodon. Maybe something like that would help.

I can't recommend one over another, though, since I don't use them. And if you've tried them and don't like them, that's okay. I'm not trying to tell you what to do.

@CindyWeinstein
Oh, you're very welcome. I'm sure there are more cross-posting apps out there besides the ones in that article.

@bruce @CindyWeinstein There are more, but I haven't checked them out. I did look these two up. One costs $$, both only had 15 reviews, so I'm a little hesitant. Need to find out more, thanks!

@bruce @CindyWeinstein I’m a fan of OpenVibe, personally, though I only use it occasionally. I rarely want to cross-post, but I wanted to play around with it as it supports RSS (more or less). I was playing around with the Surf beta as well, but its (lack of) support for increased font-sizes/accessibility settings made it basically un-usable for me. It got sorted (I think) a little back, but the beta is now over, soβ€¦πŸ€·πŸ»

FWIW, OpenVibe is supper-easy to set-up and try out.

@CindyWeinstein wow. Was just watching some doctors talk about rabies and how with vaccination it’s been virtually eliminated in dogs in North America, where transmission to humans is now mostly via bats β€” but in much of the world it’s still mostly transmitted to humans via dogs.

@mwyman @CindyWeinstein Measles, redux, only now it's rabies

I don't know what's more terrifying. The possibility that Spot over there might have rabies, or the fact that Spot's owner is this level of stupid
