@Michael Vogel I'm afraid this is the usual junk app made specifically to steal personal data, but it attracts some users who believe that there is a friend app on the PlayStore.
Someone should try it to see if there are the details to get it removed from the Play Store or even to bring a court case

A free messaging app to connect with friends and family.

I think they just took the name #Friendica because it is closed-related to the word friends. It looks at first glance like just any other "secure" chat messenger that has its source code disclosed from the public. It feels more like yet-another #WhatsApp clone than trying to scam people. The name of it is maybe confusing here because it is the same as our software's name. Maybe try the 3-contact-attempts approach before reporting it?

From play store:

«A free messaging app to connect with friends and family. Send texts, emojis, and photos to anyone on the Friendica social network. Make video and audio calls from your mobile device.

Friendica respects your privacy. Your data is never sold or given away. »

From twitter:

«A Facebook alternative run by a nonprofit. [whit link to:] friendica.ca

In your opinion is this a correct operation?

@Michael Vogel @Poliverso notizie dal fediverso Yes, it is misleading because of choice of the name. People get easily confused with THIS Friendica and their single central website (I guess it doesn't federate). I always act "in good faith", means I won't assume people do bad by default. But this now more looks very deceptive and misleading.

If they would have said on their website that they are not affiliated or in any kind related to our software, that would be fine. We should then better warn users towards their website.

And please edit your post to not link directly to them but but their links in a code block.
