1. USA 2. Hardly anyone's heard of it. It doesn't fulfill the requirements for influencers/celebrities/large follow accounts that people love to follow.
2. There was a brief exodus and some people tried it out, but it was overwhelmingly American and English and finding other Malaysians was difficult on big servers, so pretty much all of them left.
Also, I don't think Mastodon is ready for mainstream Southeast Asian social media users. The amount of shitposting, homophobia, harassment, racism and coordinated attacks would get them banned and blocked fast.

Also used to a full recommendations feed when they join.
