War schon vor zwanzig Jahren das Allerbeste was man mit einem alten Windoof Rechenknecht tun konnte. Daran hat sich seitdem nichts geändert. Festplatte löschen, neu Partitionieren, Formatieren, eine aktuelle Linuxdistribution welche zu einem paßt installieren und mindestens weitere fünf Jahre Freude an dem alten Rechenknecht haben. 😊😍

Auf meinem Uralt-Laptop läuft Linux Mint inzwischen als einziges OS. Anfangs habe ich es neben Win 10 Dual Boot genutzt. Wollte erst schauen wie ich damit zurecht komme, nach einer Testphase war es mir dann ein Fest Windows vom Gerät zu kicken. Der Laptop läuft mit inzwischen irgendwas zwischen 8 und 10 Jahren Alter mit Linux sauberer, stabiler und (VIELVIELVIEL) schneller als das Teil mit Windows jemals gelaufen ist. Eigentlich war die einzige Daseinsberechtigung von dem Teil CD's mit Musik zu rippen die ich nicht digital kaufen kann, inzwischen nutze ich das Teil manchmal zum Spielen. Zwar ältere Spiele, aber auch das wäre mit Win10 eine Qual!
Einfach ist mal gar nichts mit Linux. Das war vor 20 Jahren so und ist es bis heute. Einfach ist Windows, weil jede direkt Hardware läuft und falls nicht, jeder Hersteller Treiber bereitstellt die dann auch problemlos funktionieren.
Linux ist nach wie vor kein Desktop Betriebsystem. Ja, inzwischen ist es akzeptabel und vieles geht heute, wo man früher bereits bei der Installation scheiterte.
Aber einfach ist es meistens nur, bis etwas nicht "out of the box" funktioniert.

This bill aims to limit the use of the armed forces and federal law enforcement in civilian activities and establish a clear separation between the military and domestic policing. It will establish congressional oversight which will serve to be a check against unlawful use of the military against American citizens. And it will prohibit dual service which will reduce or eliminate conflict of interests among those who serve both in the military and in domestic law enforcement.
While not expressly mentioned in the Constitution there is historical precedent for keeping domestic policing and the military separate. One of the grievances that was listed in the Declaration of Independence was King George III’s use of military forces against the colonists. The Declaration states that the king had “He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.”. And the modern day use of the National Guard in domestic policing mirrors this historical injustice and is a violation of the foundational principles of our republic.
This bill is essential for ensuring that the military remains distinct from domestic law enforcement. We must uphold the principle that the military’s role is for national defense, and not the policing of its own citizens. This clear separation is crucial for protecting the constitutional rights of free assembly and protest. And this bill’s emphasis on democratic oversight will also help hold the executive branch accountable and prevent the unilateral deployment of armed forces against civilians.
I urge you to vote in favor of this bill. And I encourage you to actively champion this bill and speak out in support of its passage. This bill will help to protect American citizens from a major abuse of power from an executive branch that would try to use fear and intimidation to silence their voices.

The short answer is that the CDF for the angle between A and B, call it γ, is:

I'm not sure what the nicest way is to prove the CDF. You can express the dot product between A and B in terms of the coordinates of P and Q, rotate P to lie on the +ve z-axis (while weighting the result with 4π z_P^2) and rotate Q to lie in the xz plane with +ve x (while weighting the result by 2π x_Q), so after dividing by the volumes of both unit balls you end up with the integral of:

Here is an alternative proof for people who are comfortable with Jacobian matrices and determinants.
Though I did this in Mathematica and it involves a 6 x 6 determinant, there are a lot of zeroes in that matrix and it could probably be done with pen and paper without too much trouble.
The Mathematica code here defines a point on a sphere in standard polar coordinates θ, φ, defines two points A and B with their individual pairs of polar coordinates, then two points P and Q on the line segment between A and B, with parameters λ, μ for how far each of them is along the line segment.
We then compute the Jacobian matrix of partial derivatives for the pair (P,Q) with respect to the six parameters, set A and B to lie on the equator at θ=π/2, while A is at φ=0 and B is at φ = γ.
The determinant of the Jacobian matrix is:
(λ-μ)^2 (cos(γ)-1)^2
We find the probability density function for γ by integrating over λ and μ from 0 to 1, multiplying by 4π (for A moving over the whole sphere), 2π sin(γ) (for B rotating around A while staying at an angle of γ), 1/2 (to avoid double counting configurations where A and B are just swapped), and dividing by (4π/3)^2, for the total volumes P and Q are selected from.

We built local backdoors for Signal, 1Password & Slack through V8 heap snapshot tampering (CVE-2025-55305).
Method: Replace v8_context_snapshot.bin files with versions that override JavaScript builtins. When apps call Array.isArray(), malicious code executes. Works because integrity checks ignore these "non-executable" files that actually contain executable JavaScript.
A vulnerability in Electron applications allows attackers to bypass code integrity checks by tampering with V8 heap snapshot files, enabling local backdoors in applications like Signal, 1Password, and Slack.
A random number generator made with lavalamps, patented by SGI (Silicon Graphics) in 1996, is now used (among others) by Cloudflare. The others are installations of dual chaotic pendulums and an uranium pellet for random number generation. Very cool. 🙂

Om met de belangrijkste te beginnen, in amendement 316 stel ik voor om de zinnen over leeftijdscontrole voor social media uit het verkiezingsprogramma te schrappen. De programma commissie adviseert hier negatief op. Op de amendementenavond was het merendeel van de aanwezige leden echter voor het amendement. Amendement 316 zal dus op het congres nog eens besproken worden. Bij deze de oproep aan alle PvdD leden hier en op BlueSky om toch vooral voor dit amendement te stemmen. De minimumleeftijd voor het gebruiken van sociale media wordt 16 jaar. Socialmediabedrijven worden verantwoordelijk voor de handhaving. Als een kind toch een account weet te maken, krijgt het socialmediabedrijf een boete, niet het kind.
Mijn voorstel: In zijn geheel schrappen. Net als bij chatcontrol gaat online leeftijdcontrole niet om de veiligheid van kinderen maar om privacyschending, censuur en surveillance doordat politiek, bedrijven en overheid gaan besluiten wie toegang heeft tot welke informatie.
De reactie van de programma commissie was: Het is goed dat de indiener een punt maakt over privacy. We hebben privacy ook meegenomen in onze overwegingen om tot dit standpunt te komen. Het is zeker niet de bedoeling dat BigTech toegang krijgt tot deze data, er zijn andere manieren om die identiteitscontrole op een veilige manier in te richten. Echter er is steeds meer wetenschappelijk bewijs over de schadelijke effecten van social media op kinderen. Die wetenschap willen graag volgen.
Prima om de wetenschap te volgen. Maar regel dat dan aan de voorkant en niet aan de achterkant. Maak de platformen verantwoordelijk voor de schade die ze aanrichten. Maar niet door het invoeren van een leeftijdscontrole. Het is nogal naïef om te denken dat je socialmedia bedrijven verantwoordelijk kunt maken voor handhaving, zonder dat dit ten koste gaan van de privacy en security. Hoe wil je dat dan op een veilige manier inrichten? Welke tech partner gaat dat regelen? De overheid zelf? Toch maar een externe partij? En dan garantie tot de deur dat niet alle gegevens toch op straat komen te liggen.
En wat te denken van decentrale, privacy respecterende social media. Die kunnen die controles niet eens doen, omdat dat in strijd is met hun publieke waarden en hun systemen daar ook helemaal niet op ingericht zijn. Vergis je niet. Leeftijdscontrole invoeren voor social media op basis van een identiteitscontrole is ook slechts een eerste stap. Wanneer je eenmaal een dergelijk systeem voor identiteitscontrole hebt opgezet zet je de deur wagenwijd open voor andere controles. En voor je het weet kun je niet meer op social media omdat je vrouw bent. Iemand van kleur bent. Een bepaalde religie aanhangt. Dat BigTech geen toegang zou krijgen tot deze data, wil niet zeggen dat een onbetrouwbare overheid er niet ook prima mee uit de voeten kan om te controleren, te surveilleren en te censureren. Zeg niet dat dit niet kan gebeuren. Kijk alleen wat er nu in een paar maanden tijd aan democratische zekerheden is gesneuveld in de Verenigde Staten.
Er is ook nog een andere kant, namelijk dat social media juist ook steun en moral support kan bieden. Als je toegang tot social media voor kinderen onder de 16 verbied, dan ontneem je juist de meest kwetsbaren uit die groep, die thuis geestelijk of lichamelijk mishandeld worden, die worstelen met hun geaardheid, die nergens terecht kunnen, ook niet op school, uit schaamte, omdat ze niet durven, die ontneem je dan ook de mogelijkheid om nog ergens terecht te kunnen waar ze gehoord en begrepen worden.
En als je kijkt waar die leeftijdscontrole al wel is ingevoerd, al eerder in Australië en nog niet zo lang geleden in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, en wat voor sh*tshow dat al is geworden. Het werkt niet. Het is onnauwkeurig, problematisch en uiteindelijk onhoudbaar. Echte veiligheid hangt af van het aanpakken van schadelijke inhoud bij de bron, niet door de toegang tot die bron af te schermen voor bepaalde bevolkingsgroepen. Identiteitscontrole voor social media is een hellend vlak, een glijdende schaal, die je als je enig gevoel hebt voor privacy en security niet op moet willen gaan. Je schiet niet alleen je doel voorbij, je schiet jezelf in de voet.
Daarom, stem komende zondag vóór amendement 316!
Maar ik had er nog 2, die gelukkig wel met een positief advies van de programmacommissie en ook de meerderheid op de amendementenavond was voor, dus die worden zonder bespreking direct in stemming gebracht.
Amendement 315: ‘De minimumleeftijd voor het bezitten van een smartphone wordt 14 jaar’ wijzigen in ‘Het bezit van een smartphone tot 14 jaar wordt ontmoedigd’. Ik wilde de zin eigenlijk helemaal schrappen, maar daar ging de programmacommissie niet in mee, dit vond ik een acceptabel compromis.
Mijn onderbouwing: Laten we vooral ouders zelf laten bepalen bij welke leeftijd kinderen een smartphone mogen. Dit is niet iets dat de overheid moet regelen, maar hoort bij de persoonlijke vrijheid en de persoonlijke verantwoordelijkheid. Leer kinderen verantwoordelijkheid, neem ze geen vrijheid af. Gaan we anders kinderen onder de 14 met een smartphone of hun ouders bekeuren? Mogen kinderen binnenkort ook niet meer een tablet of een laptop? Wat is precies en smartphone en wat niet? Een kind van 13 kan verstandiger zijn dan een volwassene van 43.
Geen appdwang. Diensten van overheid, scholen, zorginstellingen en banken mogen nooit alleen nog maar via apps en platformen van Big Tech bereikbaar zijn. Het blijft voor burgers altijd mogelijk om hun digitale zaken te kunnen regelen via websites en/of platformonafhankelijke protocollen.
Mijn onderbouwing: Als een essentiële dienst, bijvoorbeeld DigID, of voor geld overmaken, alleen nog maar beschikbaar is via een app in de AppStore of Google Play dan worden mensen zonder smartphone, of die uit principiële redenen op hun devices geen gebruik maken van iOS of Google Android voor het blok gezet. Er moet altijd een optie blijven om zaken gewoon via een website te regelen of bijvoorbeeld via een app uit de F-Droid store die ook op GrapheneOS werkt.
ik ben pas kort lid van de PvdD, stem er al wel jaren op, maar leeftijdscontrole e.d. zou voor mij reden zijn om niet meer op PvdD te stemmen. Ik heb als ouder eerlijk gezegd schoon genoeg van overheidsbemoeienis met mijn kind. En mijn kind (13) is nog bezorgder over zijn privacy dan ik.
