Sorry for the effect his policies have on the farming community, but at the same time paying attention to his actions and performance in his first administration would have told you everything you needed to know.

When I lived in the Pajaro Valley in California, there was a racist stigma against farm work, it was "for Mexicans." Not to mention it was just too damn hard for Americans. They can't find a green bean on a green bean plant.

At the end she says they are bounty hunters

Is that what's going on? Are randos kidnapping people and then taking them and turning them into ice?

And do they always turn them in right away, or do they like keep them in their own basement for a week or something?

I sure hope somebody can do some investigative reporting

That's a breath of fresh air compared with Meta socials that try to autoplay everything you scroll past.

Funemployment dinner number 53 (in a series): coronation chicken over greens. About $2 a serving. #cooking #food #foodporn #frugal
in reply to plinth

As a basic breakdown, I used the breasts from a Costco rotisserie chicken - $4.98 for the whole bird, so make $3 in breast meat, which makes 4 servings. The other ingredients make up the rest. I set aside the leg meat for soup later in the week. The bones and skin are being turned into broth right now.
Honestly, if you're hurting for cash, the Costco chicken is a bargain on its own but if you try to avoid wasting anything, it is more cost effective.

"The federal government had promised JJ a $200,000 grant, spread across two years, to cover the cost of a seasonal farmhand from Latin America. In a place where local, legal help was nearly impossible to keep, the extra worker would give him the freedom to handle more jobs and invest in his own equipment. It was an opportunity that could transform his family’s future, but, JJ explained to his friend, President #DonaldTrump had frozen the money."

Mahmoud Khalil Discusses 3-Month Detention in First Interview Since Release

By Jonah E. Bromwich
June 22, 2025 Updated 8:10 p.m. ET

The administration argued that he had contributed to the spread of antisemitism through his role in the protests at the university.

But Mr. Khalil, a Palestinian born in a Syrian refugee camp, rejected the idea that protesting against Israel is inherently antisemitic.

“I was not doing anything antisemitic,” he said. “I was literally advocating for the right of my people. I was literally advocating for an end of a genocide. I was advocating that the tuition fees that I and other students pay don’t go toward investing in weapons manufacturers. What’s antisemitic about this?”

all i am gathering is that it is - once again - the fault of capitalism
in reply to SaltyIceteaMaker

Yes, but more specifically the stage of capitalism known as imperialism. Imperialism is the economic inevitability of late-stage capitalist countries, which includes the export of capital and the division of the world along imperialist lines. The US Empire is the current world hegemon, but imperialism also has forces that work against its existence in the imperialized countries, which is accelerating the decline of the US.

The image depicts a scene from a pixelated video game, likely from the late 1990s or early 2000s. The scene is set in a blue-tiled corridor with a diamond pattern, suggesting a stone or tiled floor. The corridor is flanked by structures on both sides, possibly buildings or platforms, with a lamp post visible on the right side.

In the center of the image, a character with blue hair and a blue outfit stands prominently, holding a round object, possibly a shield or a weapon. This character is facing the viewer. To the left, another character with black hair and a blue outfit is partially visible, walking away from the viewer. In the background, a small figure is seen walking away from the viewer, adding depth to the scene.

The overall color palette is dominated by shades of blue, with the characters' outfits providing contrast. The pixelated graphics and the style of the characters are indicative of the visual style of classic role-playing games from that era.

Saturday’s attack makes clear that there are no red lines for American imperialism, which will stop at nothing. Its criminality knows no limits. No government has so openly and flagrantly violated international law since the Nazi regime.
