I will admit that I've had one of the "big 3's" distributions running on a separate piece of hardware at some point because I wanted to learn as much about those distributions as possible so I could apply for jobs with those companies. Now that I'm close to 60 years old, and it's quite obvious that I will never work for one of those companies, I have Debian running on everything. Debian just feels, and has always felt, like home. Last night, I rebuilt my home server that was running CentOS with Debian and all feels good again. Still have a bit of configuring to do but that won't take too awful long.

The only legitimate question any average social media user would ask would likely be: "why"?
Why should I trust any random and mostly unknown admin among thousands of unknown ones instead of an organized and staffed multinational company?
The Fediverse is built on personal trust, by humans, for humans, on shared values and with respect for people on mind.
We should not offer an amateurish imitation of billion-dollars networks, but something totally different in allowance, in networking, in experience. We should create ourselves a new way of doing it. Someone is working on that, someone is just running after the remains of now decayed monsters, others think that they can get a share of the pie.

I think I’ll start by exploring his other books published in Polish and then go for any Ukrainian editions. I read Ukrainian quite easily but my vocabulary may be a bit limited as it’s been mostly trained on military news so it will definitely benefit from proper prose. This should keep me busy until 2026 ;)

No Tension for Tensors?
We always enjoy [FloatHeadPhysics] explaining any math or physics topic. We don’t know if he’s acting or not, but he seems genuinely excited about every topic he covers, and it is infectious. He also has entertaining imaginary conversations with people like Feynman and Einstein. His recent video on tensors begins by showing the vector form of Ohm’s law, making it even more interesting. Check out the video below.
If you ever thought you could use fewer numbers for many tensor calculations, [FloatHeadPhysics] had the same idea. Luckily, imaginary Feynman explains why this isn’t right, and the answer shows the basic nature of why people use tensors.
The spoiler: vectors and even scalars are just a special case of tensors, so you use tensors all the time, you just don’t realize it. He works through other examples, including an orbital satellite and a hydroelectric dam.
We love videos that help us have aha moments about complex math or physics. It is easy to spew formulas, but there’s no substitute for having a “feeling” about how things work.
