Arturo Viale, infaticabile narratore di persone interessanti e di avvenimenti di rilievo, nel suo contributo alla testimonianza della nonna paterna, pubblicata in un libro, Caterina Gaggero Viale, Diario di Guerra della Zona Intemelia 1943-45 (Edizioni Alzani, Pinerolo, 1988), ma anche in altri suoi scritti, di sicuro in Oltrepassare. Storie di passaggi tra Ponente Ligure e Provenza, (Edizioni Zem, 2019), fece un fugace riferimento - Quando sapevo già leggere (a cinque anni avevo fatto la «primina» da suor Cristina), nelle giornate di pioggia e freddo, li leggevo con mia nonna Caterina, A Lila… - alla sua esperienza di "primina" ed all'insegnante di quella scuola, suor Cristina.
Si da il caso che con questa espressione si è intesa sempre la prima elementare, che si poteva affrontare già a cinque anni, con un'istruzione impartita a lungo dalle suore dell'Orto nel centro storico di Ventimiglia Alta, in un'aula a pianterreno di un loro complesso a due passi dalle rovine del castello medievale e adiacente al plesso pubblico. Per certi versi anche un'esperienza innovativa, con femminucce e maschietti chini sui banchi, come non sempre accadeva nelle sedi della "concorrenza". Terminata quella fase, l'unica che quelle religiose gestivano, gli alunni per passare alle statali erano sottoposti ad un esame - a sei anni di età! - molto severo davanti ad una commissione di maestri dipendenti dal competente Ministero.
Una fattispecie forse resa possibile anche presso almeno un altro istituto privato della città di confine, ma qui logicamente intriga quella indicata da Viale.
Il che porta a metà degli anni Cinquanta e poco oltre.
Si ha notizia di qualche raduno, decenni dopo, di qualche sparuto gruppo di quegli ex allievi, ma sono soprattutto altri casi della vita che hanno talora stabilito alcuni fatti curiosi.
Chi, trasferitosi con la famiglia in zona Nervia, ritrovava ad un certo momento in classe un suo ex compagno della "primina", perché là in collegio, guarda caso un collegio gestito da suore.
Chi, pur incrociandosi di frequente più avanti, aveva bisogno di altro tempo ancora per riconoscere vicendevolmente quella lontana comune esperienza.
Chi, addirittura, risentiva solo per telefono, addirittura più di sessant'anni dopo, un antico sodale.
Chi nelle conversazioni occasionali di adesso va a scambiare cenni su vecchi vicini di casa o su compagni di giochi e di successivi livelli di studi in un caleidoscopio di immagini, di storie, di emozioni.
Il tutto induce ad affrontare prima o poi in modo più articolato il discorso "Ventimiglia Alta" (e dintorni), da cui qui si è partiti, con gli spunti di bambini, scuole, abitudini, aneddoti di un'epoca ormai datata.

Oh, it turns out that it's not a weirdness with Vite that's suddenly started happening to me, it's that Vivaldi is crashing the tab every time I save a file and Vite tries to reload.
Not that this little graphic tells you a damn thing about what it means, I had to reverse image search.
Solution, it turns out: drop your blocking level to just Trackers, not Ads. (There are no ads, but I get why it might have trouble with a dev script like Vite's auto-reloader)
