Queste foto me le ha fatte una persona che è stata manipolativa nei miei confronti per mesi/anni e che fa stare malissimo una mia amica ma mi ci riconosco tantissimo, e non è la prima volta che penso "sono proprio io!" riguardo a ritratti fattimi da qualcuno che mi stava lovebombando o circuendo emotivamente.
Vuol dire che il bracconaggio implica comunque una certa vicinanza o che semplicemente devo separare l'opera dall'artista?

JWST zooms into the heart of the Butterfly Nebula (NGC 6302). The MIRI instrument and its spectrometer were used at 5–28 µm wavelength to study the intricate structures surrounding its central star.
NGC 6302 is a bipolar nebula, 3,400 ly away, with the remains of an exploded star, a dust/gas torus and "wings" of gas expanding on two sides. With a temp of 220,000 K, the star is one of the hottest known central stars in a planetary nebula in our galaxy.

These annotated images describe the structures at the heart of the Butterfly Nebula (NGC 6302).
The images (using data from JWST and ALMA) show the central star, the dust/gas torus and interconnected bubbles of dusty gas that expand into the wings. Outside the bubbles are blue jets traced by emission from ionised iron.
The dusty torus may be responsible for shaping the nebula’s insectoid shape by preventing gas from flowing outward equally in all directions.

Tom really didn’t want me to run in the rain. He never wants me to run outside if it’s more than about 17° or if it’s been frosty. He’s always worried I’ll slip, get heatstroke, get sick. He sees exercise as risky if I’ve had as much as a slight cold. Sometimes it gets a bit much.
Anyway I went for a run, nothing bad happened to me other than feeling that it was a little tougher than usual after 10 days of no exercise. I feel more awake than I’ve done all day.
Tom was asleep in his recliner with the cat when I went out, and he’s still there now.
Now for cosy indoor things: hot bath with a good book, then making some soup.

Aber die Rechten »zu entzaubern« funktioniert nicht¹. Das haben nicht nur zehn Jahre AfD gezeigt, sondern auch die furchtbaren Jahre von 1919 bis 1945 – und alles, was an Faschismus auf die Nazis folgte.
Im Gegenteil führt das Übernehmen von Nazi-»Argumenten« und -Taktiken zu ihrer Erstarkung. Und zur zunehmenden Verdummung der Bevölkerung.
Stattdessen sinnvoll wäre es, in Bildung und Information zu investieren. Das darf ruhig in einfachen Worten passieren, aber eben nicht populistisch verzerrt.

I saw a post with a map of countries where >90% of the population speaks English. Scandinavia was included, but Canada wasn't. Claiming that Canada has <90% English speakers is interesting, and not entirely trivial to confirm or deny from official sources.
I looked up Statistics Canada, data from 2021. They don't say outright how many speak English, and they switch measurements between "mother tongue" and "first official language". But the bounds for English speakers seem to be 76.1% – 88.4%, so the post was correct about Canada. Calculations below.

It's just not the case that there was an idyllic #internet, maybe at some point in the 1990s or early 2000s.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s browser popups became a scourge. Microsoft refused to do anything about them, and internet explorer became known as being full of exploitable security holes. The initial rise of Firefox was because it blocked popups by default. That was Firefox's killer feature.
Also from 1998 and at least a decade afterwards, Microsoft and its allies tried to destroy Open Source. It was a complicated multi-faceted battle. Their eventual buying of Github is part of that story of the company trying to dominate and control Open Source, after the realization that it couldn't be defeated via lawsuits or intimidating developers.
Also the early internet was full of spam. Spam pretty much destroyed Usenet, and it was only in the mid 2000s that the spam problem began to be under control.
But surely the late 1990s internet was the ultimate in freedom of online speech? Well, there was that whole battle with PGP and the clipper chip. They were trying to stop - or at least fuck with - encrypted messaging from the beginning.
