Oh, well this is bad. I lost my Kobo e-reader and there is no way to de-activate that device short of deleting my entire Kobo account and re-registering with a new email. So if someone finds my device and starts using it, they will be able to buy 10,000 books.
Just sheer ineptitude.
I loved Kobo, the company, up until now. Apparently no one ever considered that a user might lose their device?

in reply to Matteꙮ Italia • • •Once you get out of the SLC cache these don't get anything like 8GB/s. I'd expect somewhere between 0.5GB-2GB/s then but haven't tested that particular model. And you'd need a huge heatsink on the drive to stop it going into thermal derate or shutdown first.
Even at 8GB/s a "I installed this Windows Update and then SSD dead" would be a strange report unless the user let it spin for 20 hours 😛
