“Why is the Puerto Rico independence movement gaining momentum?”
It’s been almost 10 years since the USA Congress proposed the PROMESA Act. The austerity measures implemented as well as striking down laws by the Fiscal Oversight Board has taken a heavy toll on all of us.
The situation in Puerto Rico is untenable: the Trump admin fired 6 out of 7 members of the FOMB after Laura Loomer reported on this. And the “progress” done negotiating a deal with bondholders has been nullified.

That deal was bad for the Puerto Rico population. What comes now is most likely a deal even more favorable to bondholders. This means the electricity bill will keep growing regardless of actual demand at the very least.
It also means a new bankruptcy process will be needed. It’s a race to the bottom and no way to climb out of that hole.
And that’s why independence is becoming the alternative for many of us.
This is the one Labor Day graph that tells you the actual problem in America.
The problem is not that America lacks abundance.
The problem is that a handful of oligarchs are hoarding America’s abundance.

According to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, she fired two dozen IT employees at FEMA over an alleged security incident in which "no sensitive information was extracted from any DHS networks."
To Noem, the real problem isn't cybercriminals outside of FEMA who want to break in, it's the "deep state" bureaucrats who are the real threat, the insider.
"When DHS stepped in to fix the problem, entrenched bureaucrats worked to prevent us from solving the problem and downplayed just how bad this breach was. These deep-state individuals were more interested in covering up their failures than in protecting the Homeland and American citizens’ personal data, so I terminated them immediately."
"The entrenched bureaucrats who led FEMA’s IT team for decades resisted any efforts to fix the problem. Instead, they avoided scheduled inspections and lied to officials about the scope and scale of the cyber vulnerabilities."
