I want to allow my bots' posts to be quoted.
Do I need all these interaction policies - or can I just have the simplified interactionPolicy?
My understanding of (the current version of) FEP-044f is that you cannot make something quotable without issuing individual approval stamps upon request. ActivityPub development frameworks may make this easier in the future, but for the time being it's a hassle for bot developers.
I'm advocating for a simple and static way to declare quotability here: socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/… but it'll take platform implementer buy-in and, following that, at least one Mastodon version bump.

Yes. The flow is (1) you declare a canQuote policy, (2) accounts who fit that policy get their quote post buttons unlocked, (3) if one of them clicks it, your server gets a QuoteRequest from that actor, (4) you respond with a bespoke QuoteAuthorization, which you need to host indefinitely – its presence allows third parties to verify that that specific quote was permitted by you.

@liaizon The schema pretty much follows from the requirements that individual quotes must be authorized by the quoted account, and that the authorization be (a) verifiable, and (b) revocable. Can't really accomplish that without some sort of publicly accessible certification.
In fact I quite like the concept. My only criticism is that there should be a way for implementers willing to give up revocability to give a blanket permission to reduce the complexity.

According to recent change logs, the Mastodon team has been fixing a number of small bugs around quote posts. If the error is on Mastodon's end and not yours, that could mean your quotes work on nightly versions (like mastodon.social runs), but not stable releases.
I don't see anything promising in github.com/mastodon/mastodon/p… though. PR 36195 contains stuff that could be relevant, but going by timestamps that should have all made it into 4.4.5, which I run.

On Sept16, Joe Botello, a man born in the #US, was zip-tied, questioned, and had his front doors shattered by #ICE agents. He was one of four men shown on a video released by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was present at the raid. He was let go later after showing proof of citizenship.“I’m just blessed that I’m still alive,” he said. “I’ve been hearing it and seeing it through social media. But it never crossed my mind that it was going to happen here at the house … where I live.”
The raid came amid escalating threats by Donald #Trump that he would target this city by sending in federal troops to “fight crime.” While troops have not yet been deployed, an #immigration crackdown by ICE is already underway.

That doesn't make any sense; it's like saying that you want Chinese and Spanish to be mutually intelligible. You could try to combine the two languages into one mixed thing, but that resulting language would be neither Chinese nor Spanish.
a mastodon instance doing translation from ATProto to AP would be like it running both protocols (unless im misunderstanding), given how insanely expensive it is to run a blusky instance (perhaps why we got only one instance of it) that is a suicide move by Mastodon to do it (I took mastodon and blusky here as examples)
The shared heap is pretty large and is growing and AP prides itself in the ability for it to be deployed on stuff like a raspberry pi
