There's no way... after all the repairs, I still cannot print anything larger than a few centimeters with my #creality #ender5 #3Dprinter... part of the #brim (and of the first layer as well) refuses to #stick to the #printbed. I can level the print bed and have the four angles at the right distance from the #nozzle (in fact the first extrusion sticks perfectly) but then the center is too low. I can place a little sheet of paper under the mat at the center of the print bed and then the center is ok, but some places around are lower... It's very #frustrating, and I really don't know what to do at this point...
in reply to Daniele Verducci 🧉

Adjust to the corners. Print a one-layer mesh on the whole surface. Keep only what sticks. Put it under the mat. Readjust the zero. Repeat. Stack. (I don’t know anything about 3D printing, that’s just brainstorming.)
in reply to Ölbaum

@oscherler Doesn't this make the opposite effect?
Btw, the idea is interesting, I may print on a sheet of paper and obtain the distribution of the low parts!

It seems I will either need to have own #Mastodon instance eventually or move to another #ActivityPub compatible software, because I at times have to cut my replies about some experiences of my life into few posts, and client-side web-UI of Mastodon does not have "post whole thread" feature, and default 500 characters or lack of markdown editing feels too limiting for me sometimes.
And this - while I tend just scroll Home feed and boost interesting news or leave short reples most of the time.

I think I'm misunderstanding something about snapshots on fedora

Just installed fedora to replace windows 10. I've used mint and ubuntu as a general purpose os in the past but it's been a few years and I was never a power user, just learned what I needed as I went.

I remember it being important to use timeshift to safeguard against breaking something with updates, but it seems like timeshift doesn't work on fedora. Rather, you can get it to work on fedora but it's not supported. The thing that is confusing me is, searching for a way to do snapshots on fedora, I haven't really found what I expected? There's nothing I can see in software or flathub, timeshift or the alternatives mentioned on forums. I'm think I'm going to proceed with figuring out snapper using btrfs assistant as a gui...

But, given that I remember timeshift being basically recommended all the time to everyone when I used to use linux, I can't find anyone all that interested in using snapshots with fedora. Is it not necessary with fedora? Does fedora somehow handle that already? I can make do with the information I can find, but I'm wondering why there is so little information about it at all. I can't really find anything that suggests it's important to make snapshots. Or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places? Can someone help me understand this better?

in reply to the_robot_from_planet_danger [comrade/them]

Idk, but my install offers a version rollback at the bootloader. Had a weird graphics issue after an update, so I just used an older version for a week or so till a new update fixed it.

Is the electric ute running out of charge already? Ram’s recent decision to scrap plans for an electric-powered version of its popular 1500 pickup may prove to be a turning point for the broader ute community.

Especially when considered alongside the acceptance of plug-in hybrid utes such as the BYD Shark 6 and Ford Ranger PHEV. It suggests the market has spoken, both in the US and Australia, where utes dominate the sales charts.

Via carsguide.com.au

It's hard to compare a plug in hybrid to a full EV ute, when there aren't really any on the market. It's a bold statement to say the market has spoken, when there is no market to speak of.

Oh man, standardized testing wrecked education in the USA. The "No Child Left Behind" act pretty much removed funding from any school that couldn't afford to teach their students to pass the tests. It removed funding. From underfunded schools.

There used to be a time when school had electives like cooking, home economics, welding, and theater. High schools used to have a band and an orchestra. These days the only reason bands still exist in most schools is because of student run donation drives. To get the funding that was being cut from the schools who already desperately needed funding, they had to cancel EVERYTHING except for teaching students how to pass the tests.

George W. Bush's "No Child Left Behind" act was 24 years ago. In case you were wondering what the fuck is wrong with USAers these days.

in reply to Rocketman

Specifically, when using the Spotify player on Debian 13, the volume jumps back up to 100% with each new song.

This could be a bug in Spotify’s half-assed Linux crapware, or in the somewhat exotic LXqt desktop environment I’m running.

Or, of course, somewhere else entirely.
