Pasou o enterro, comeza o esquecemento. Pepe Mujica seguro que o comprendería, a vida segue. Eu, enténdoo, mais cústame aceptar o ‘natural’ esquecer o que pode servir como guía, algo que ilumina, un fito na humanidade. Diferente da invención da roda ou do establecemento do dereito de igualdade entre as persoas, por suposto, pero non menos fito.
Tentarase (ese ‘impersoal se’ tento que me inclúa) frealo. Construiranse diques contra ese esquecemento, como os xa comezados na Wikipedia (gl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A… como exemplo)…
É recente a miña sorpresa ó ver que Mujica non levaba acento, que non era ‘Mújica’. Interpreteino como unha metáfora do meu descoñecemento dunha persoa á que fun descubrindo ó tempo que admirando.
Non é tan recente en min o querer escribir algo sobre el, se ben a súa morte precipitou a acción, e aínda que decidira que para min, o ‘minuto de silencio na súa honra’ durase algo máis, ata que percibira que rematara o que se pode chamar a pompa da circunstancia. Decidín esperar a que, como teño lido nalgures, os ‘aduladores que non teñen pensado seguir o seu camiño’ comezaran a dar por rematada a obra de teatro ó seu arredor.
Por outra banda, unha vez finado, rematada a súa historia, o mesmo respecto por el fai que me dea medo defraudar a súa memoria, a súa imaxe, o que representou e representa, pero sobre todo, sinxelamente, o que el foi. Ó fin, non hai tanto tempo que pouco coñecía de Mujica máis aló de tres ou catro cousiñas soltas e toda a carga de sentimento que leva consigo unha figura coa súa valía humana, mesmo despois de ter pasado por unha época terrorista. E xubilado pero non para os máis: non se xubilou como persoa. É dicir, sabía entón (e aínda sei) o que pode saber calquera persoa corrente; posiblemente, menos do que saibas ti que estás a ler agora. De calquera xeito, teño claro que a súa imaxe e feitos van acompañados de ideas que me gustaría coñecer, ó igual que a el, un pouquiño mellor.
Repito, non me gustaría defraudalo. E por iso son consciente de que necesito non só coñecer as súas ideas, senón tamén actuar. Como el, ser persoa. Algo que coido que el mesmo dixo con verbas parellas máis dunha ou dúas veces…

This week, the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee moved forward with a proposal in its budget reconciliation bill to impose a ten-year preemption of state AI regulation—essentially saying only Congress, not state legislatures, can place safeguards on AI for the next decade.We strongly oppose this. We’ve talked before about why federal preemption of stronger state privacy laws hurts everyone. Many of the same arguments apply here. For one, this would override existing state laws enacted to mitigate against emerging harms from AI use. It would also keep states, which have been more responsive on AI regulatory issues, from reacting to emerging problems.
Finally, it risks freezing any regulation on the issue for the next decade—a considerable problem given the pace at which companies are developing the technology.

Alabamians Want Answers About a Four-Million-Square-Foot Data Center Coming to Their Backyards
Residents in and around Bessemer are furious over Project Marvel, a plan to build a 4.5-million-square-foot data processing facility on 700 acres of wooded land. Public officials have been sworn to silence.If built to planned capacity, the data center would be one of the largest in the United States and could become one of the largest single consumers of electricity in the state. Of nearly a dozen residents interviewed by Inside Climate News, none expressed support for the project as planned. Instead, all shared fear and frustration over their inability to obtain information about the $14.5 billion proposal from politicians charged with representing the public.
Efforts by Inside Climate News to speak with public officials in Bessemer about the proposal, called Project Marvel, were met with silence. The mayor, his chief of staff and the city’s attorney all signed a non-disclosure agreement with the developer, staffers said, and would not be able to answer questions about the project.
