La narrazione per cui tutto sarebbe iniziato il 7 ottobre è infatti falsa, terribilmente falsa. L’opera di apartheid, di distruzione fisica e morale dei palestinesi è iniziata molto tempo prima. Il 7 ottobre è la conseguenza di un’oppressione lunga gigantesca che lo stato di Israele ha compiuto in maniera scientifica servendosi di una violenza inusitata. È l’esito del tradimento di tutti gli accordi, di tutte le tregue, di tutte le risoluzioni Onu, di ogni articolo del diritto internazionale trasformato, non solo da Netanyahu, ma anche da molti dei suoi predecessori in vera e propria carta straccia.
Una profonda forma di pavidità, uno strisciante conformismo impedisce di riconoscere Israele per quello che è, ovvero uno stato terrorista che da anni compie il genocidio del nostro secolo. Qualcuno insiste nel voler vedere in quel paese il luogo che ha ereditato la Shoah. Ma anche questo è falso. Israele è il principale traditore di quella memoria storica. La Shoah ci ha insegnato a provare ribrezzo verso il razzismo, verso il nazionalismo, verso l’uso della violenza, del terrore e dell’oppressione verso ogni essere umano. Israele se ne serve invece come copertura. È l’uso più meschino e miserabile che si possa fare della Shoah e che di fatto ne riproduce il disegno criminale.

Air strikes have killed at least 125 people since early morning on Sunday.
