Natürlich gibt es ein #MontagsLächeln. Heute arbeite ich wieder und ab Mittag sogar vom Büro aus. Das wird ein langer Tag, denn von dort geht's zu einem Termin nach Godesberg. Aber wird schon.

Linux 6.16 RC3 released!
Linux 6.16 RC3 is now live for developers and curious users to try out. All the interesting changes from performance improvements to bug fixes have been integrated to this release candidate. This includes fixes (1, 2) for a 30-year old Creative SoundBlaster AWE32 ISA sound card, which caused systems with this sound card to freeze with PipeWire.
In the release announcement for this version of the kernel, Linus Torvalds said:
So rc2 was smaller than usual, but rc3 seems to be right in the usual ballpark for this time, so everything looks entirely normal.The diff is dominated by some wireless networking and gpu driver updates, but "dominated" is relative: it's not really anything really huge, it's just that there are few other bigger changes, and so all the rest is fairly small and spread out.Nothing really stands out to me, so I'll just point people at the shortlog below to get a taste of the kinds of fixes we have.
