Israel threatened to kill wives and children of Iranian generals if they refused to leave Iran

People working for Israel’s security services who speak Persian, Iran’s primary language, called senior Iranian officials on their cellphones and warned them that they, too, would die unless they ceased supporting the regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, according to the three people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss clandestine operations. One of them estimated that more than 20 Iranians in positions of power were contacted.

The Washington Post obtained an audio recording and transcript of one such call, which took place the same day, June 13, that Israel began its bombardment of Iran.

“I can advise you now, you have 12 hours to escape with your wife and child. Otherwise, you’re on our list right now,” an Israeli intelligence operative told a senior Iranian general close to the country’s rulers, according to the audio recording. The operative then suggested that Israel could train weapons on the general and his family at any moment. “We’re closer to you than your own neck vein. Put this in your head. May God protect you,” he said.

.....okay Iran absolutely must not end their attacks on Israel; Iran needs to engage in regime change of their own on Israel.

The image features a bold, blue background with white text arranged in a collage-like format. The text is organized in a way that emphasizes certain words and phrases. At the top, the words "losers of the Civil War & Cold War" are prominently displayed, with "Civil War" and "Cold War" in larger font sizes. Below this, the phrase "got together for revenge" is written in a larger, bold font, with "FOR REVENGE" being the most prominent. The text "Recently losers of the Apartheid Boycott added money & grievances to the pile" is positioned at the bottom, with "losers of the Apartheid Boycott" in a larger font size. The overall layout is dynamic, with varying font sizes and styles, creating a visually striking composition.

It was another long, hard day in the #SaltMine, then five hours cleaning the garage and trying to straighten out. Still not there after two days of working on it. But I did get my poolside time in this evening. Today’s refresher is a Beefeater gin and sonic, half seltzer and half light tonic water. It is hitting the spot this evening. It’s still almost 90°F / 32.23°C. According to my home weather station , it hit 100°F / 37.78°C

The glass is held above a blue above-ground pool, which is surrounded by a wooden fence and some outdoor furniture, including a blue chair. The pool water is clear and blue, reflecting the surroundings. The hand appears to be in a residential backyard setting, with trees visible in the background. The focus is on the glass and the pool, with the hand and the pool brush being the main subjects.

Trump announces 'complete and total' ceasefire between Israel and Iran

Donald Trump will be remembered as a uniquely unqualified and terrible President.

What was all this for? You destroyed whatever shred of credibility the U.S. retained with other nations. You demonstrated that Israel, in particular Benjamin Netanyahu, dictates U.S. foreign policy. Iran's nuclear program was not destroyed, and they will likely decide to ramp it up and build nuclear weapons.

Truly unhinged and disconnected from basic humanity.

Ok so at this point I’m doing anything to get back to painting even a little. My daily life feels like there is no space for that at all, but that’s never true. Just need to set the bar really low. In this case I took 5 min on the walk and used a water brush.

I definitely feel that. That's a great description for me right now. It also makes the process less enjoyable (or, harder to start), when in my mind, I desire the feeling of freedom.

But, practice is practice. Sometimes it's joy, other times it's work.

May I say on that topic, your work is progressing in leaps and bounds. I'm so impressed.

This would cost the country an estimated £34 billion in lost revenue.

Rather than exempting the wealthiest, the Green Party would tax them properly to help fix our public services.

Could Windows and installed apps upload all my personal files?

Could Windows and installed apps upload all my personal files?

Dear all

I have deleted Onedrive and disabled File system access in Privacy.

  1. I would like to know, which other ways that my personal files could be uploaded in a non-malicious non-hacker way?
  2. Just by using Windows, Microsoft could upload all my personal files to themselves if they would?
  3. Does every installed App / software have full access to my whole drive? How can I found out, how much access it has?

Thank you for your interest and reply

Best regards

@Rikudou_Sage@lemmy.world

Yes, every application has access to everything. The only exception are those weird apps that use the universal framework or whatever that thing is called, those need to ask for permissions. But most of the apps on your PC have full access to everything.

And Windows does collect and upload a lot of personal information and they could easily upload everything on your system. The same of course applies for the apps as well, they have access to everything except privileged folders (those usually don’t contain your personal data, but system files).

Yes, in theory any program, including Windows itself, could upload data to the Internet if not blocked.

Windows can be restricted by a network firewall. Programs can be restricted by filesystem permissions and the OS firewall, and not running them as admin.

But is this happening? Unlikely, unless you have malware. You can inspect your traffic.

can you explain how to do this?

steam games for example are nearly impossible to run without admin, can I restrict filesystem permissions for these software?

in reply to Holeheadou92984

As for restricting access to files you could run them under a separate user account. User A shouldn't have access to User B's home folder. Although if its something that would need granted admin access I think it would have access to other users files again.
in reply to reddeadhead

thanks

does this mean software with admin privilege only have access to user folder not root folder of C drive?

in reply to Holeheadou92984

Things with admin privilege have access to everything. If it is only user-privileged, it only has access to what that user was granted access to.

What steam game requires admin permissions? I'm not aware of any games that require admin permissions.

Well, that is fair. Those anti-cheats are in user-land on not-windows. Don't think I have given admin permissions to any game, including those with Easy Anti-Cheat, etc.

I'm still surprised Microsoft allows those to exist. Particularly for something as mundane as games.

Any open source projects out there using Nextcloud Talk for real-time chat?

I’ve been researching and testing a whole bunch of solutions for open source projects while explicitly evaluating them on their fit for something pretty cool I’m working on. The gist is supporting an inviting, easy-to-join open source community of mixed-age members (including teens and adults). Due to this, safety and moderation tooling are extremely important. And so is price!

@risottobias @feld @zeab onboarding with delta is private and creates a random email address. It is not enough to have someone's address, you also need their key which you only get privately via vcard or being added to a group. Any non encrypted message will be rejected by chatmail relays. You also can't discover groups. There is no public directory of addresses. Its not social media.

I would like to stress that if the desire is regime change, Israel and the USA are doing it the dumbest way possible.

Attacking Iran causes Iranian citizens to rally around the flag and the government, the same way Americans did after 9/11.

Either they are lying about wanting regime change, or else they are too incompetent to be allowed to have power.
