The image shows a tree with a large hollow in its trunk. Inside the hollow, there are four raccoons and one calico cat. The raccoons have distinctive black and gray fur with white markings around their eyes, and they are peeking out from the hole. The calico cat has a mix of black, white, and orange fur, with large, expressive eyes. The text at the top of the image reads, "When you rat on the dog," and the text at the bottom reads, "...and you need to enter a witness protection program." The overall scene is humorous, with the raccoons and cat appearing to be hiding together in the tree.

The New York Times's shocking race-science investigation into Zohran Mamdani shows the paper will stop at nothing to upend the progressive star. It is a clear sign of how the paper is stuck in the worst muck of the Israel lobby.

Neanderthals and Homo sapiens traded genes frequently during the period when their populations overlapped. "The two came in contact as modern humans began their major expansion out of Africa, which occurred roughly 60,000 years ago," Ars Science Editor John Timmer previously reported. "Humans picked up some Neanderthal DNA through interbreeding, while the Neanderthal population, always fairly small, was swept away by the waves of new arrivals."

In this shot from #StarTrekTNG's "The Nth Degree", you can see that Geordi's engineering console seems to be held together by dark grey tape. Two screws are hidden under the tape, another one is still visible.

The image depicts a futuristic, war-torn cityscape under a dramatic red sky. In the foreground, a large, sleek spaceship with four wings and a prominent central engine flies towards the viewer, dominating the scene. The city below is in ruins, with tall, jagged buildings and scattered debris, suggesting recent destruction. The sky is filled with fiery clouds and a large red sun, enhancing the apocalyptic atmosphere. Smaller ships are visible in the distance, adding to the sense of ongoing conflict. The overall color palette is dominated by reds, oranges, and greys, contributing to the chaotic and desolate mood of the scene.

XScreenSaver 6.12 is out now. This is another Unix-only release.

• DPMS works on Wayland, using either "wlr-output-power-management-unstable-v1" or "kde-dpms".
• Fading should perform much better on both Wayland and X11.
• GNOME continues to be unsupported. *Oh dear. How sad. Nevermind.*
• Still no locking.

@das_aug Yeah, grim doesn't work on KDE and probably never will, so you're screwed.

Oh sorry, mis-parsed your "what I would like to know" then. Wasn't a complaint from my side, I can absolutely live with not having fade-out and -in.

Libervia CLI tip 2:

You can run commands from your server or other entity with `li ad-hoc run`.

The command is designed with automation in mind, you can automatically submit values with `--submit` and `--field` (can be used many times).

This is very handy to e.g.; automate maintenance messages.

List available commands with `li ad-hoc list` (without argument, your server is used by default).

The image is a three-panel meme featuring a scene from a movie. In the first panel, a man with short dark hair and a leather jacket is driving a car. He is looking to his right and speaking, with a speech bubble that reads, "Have you learned yet that protons have mass?" The second panel shows a woman with long blonde hair sitting in the passenger seat, looking slightly confused. Her speech bubble says, "I didn't even know they were Catholic." In the third panel, the man is looking back at the woman with a surprised expression. The background in all panels shows the interior of a car, with a view of the road and other vehicles outside. The meme uses humor by juxtaposing a scientific question with a religious comment, creating a comedic effect.

Four years ago today I asked my doctor for a gender dysphoria diagnosis and HRT. I spent a long time not transitioning for a lot of reasons, but a big one was thinking I would be an ugly girl based on how I looked attempting to dress femme pre-HRT. So I wanted to share some awkward early transition photos for anyone who is avoiding transition for the same reason. This phase is not forever. HRT does work. And you learn to dress and do makeup and pose for photos. It gets better 🩷

Trendy Toots reshared this.

in reply to Danielle Foré

Hey please stop telling me you think I look good in both sets of photos. This is super invalidating and totally ignores the sentiment of my post. It feels like you’re calling me stupid for all the time I spent crying and agonizing over my dysphoria. It minimizes how hard early transition is. It’s dismissive and condescending rather than supportive.

The image shows a package of bacon placed on a bamboo surface. The bacon is wrapped in a clear plastic package, with visible layers of fat and meat. The package is not resealable. Below the bacon, there is a black text box with white text that reads: "If a package of bacon isn't resealable, it contains one serving. That's just science, I didn't make the rules." The text is presented in a humorous tone, suggesting a playful interpretation of food packaging rules.
