Bauhaus waren immer eine exzellente Live-Band, was vor allem mit der Bรผhnenprรคsenz von Sรคnger Peter Murphy und Gitarrist Daniel Ash zusammenhรคngt. Die Brรผder David J (Bass) und Kevin Haskins (Drums) waren eher zurรผckhaltend, was beim Drummer nicht verwundert. Ihr erstes Live-Album war Press The Eject And Give Me The Tape. Wer die LP-Version bis zum Ende hรถrt, vernimmt nach dem letzten Song โDark Entriesโ diese Worte, die ein Ordner zu einem Besucher sagt, der das Konzert selbst aufgenommen hatte und so um das Ergebnis seines heimlichen Tuns gebracht wurde.
Das Album wurde aus drei Konzerten zusammengestellt: Royal Court Theatre, Liverpool (31.10.1981), Hammersmith Palais, London (09.11.1981) und The Old Vic, London (24.02.1982). Auch wenn es also eine Art musikalische Collage ist, zeigt โPress The Eject And Give Me The Tapeโ sehr gut die Energie, die Bauhaus auf die Bรผhnen gebracht hat. Es wurde ursprรผnglich als Bonus-Album als limitierte Auflage mit dem dritten Studio-Album โThe Skyโs Gone Outโ im Oktober 1982 verรถffentlicht, am 10.12.1982 dann als eigenstรคndiges Album.
1988 wurde die CD-Ausgabe herausgebracht, die zusรคtzlich fรผnf Live-Aufnahme vom Konzert im Le Rose Bonbon, Paris (03.12.1981) enthรคlt, sowie eine Aufnahme aus dem Fagins, Manchester (28.10.1981). Bei Letzterer handelt es sich um eine Cover-Version des Klassikers โIโm Waiting For The Manโ von The Velvet Underground, bei der Nico als Gastsรคngerin auftrat. Alle Bonus-Tracks der CD bis auf โOf Lillies And Remainsโ wurden bereits vorher auf Single-B-Seiten verรถffentlicht, โDouble Dareโ und โHair Of The Dogโ wurden als Bonus-Single โSatori In Parisโ einer limitierten Erstauflage von โPress The Eject And Give Me The Tapeโ beigelegt.

In mid-summer southern France, itโs the Romanesque churches that provide a reliably refuge from the smouldering heat (and personally, I prefer the moist cold of a medieval building to the strange conditioned air of malls). Massive stone walls are probably unaffordable and unsustainable for most modern buildings, but I would think thanks to decades of clever engineering we can get a similar effect with thin modern materials.
