As part of its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, the Nakliyat-İş Union, affiliated to the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), organized a mass protest in front of the US Consulate General in Istanbul on July 4, 2025. The protest condemned the ongoing massacre perpetrated by the Zionist Israeli state and supported by US imperialism. Participants carried banners reading “Murderer USA, Murderer Israel—Get Out of Gaza and Palestine!” and waved flags of the WFTU, Nakliyat-İş, and Palestine. The action was attended by representatives and members of Nakliyat-İş from various workplaces, including FedEx Express and Fillo Logistics, as well as leaders from other unions and social organizations. Ali Rıza Küçükosmanoğlu, President of Nakliyat-İş Union and Vice President of the WFTU, stated in his speech: “Israel has been carrying out massacres since 1948. It acts as the watchdog of US imperialism in the Middle East. The region is being drenched in blood to serve imperialist interests, and these attacks aim to seize its resources. All political, economic, and military relations with Israel must be severed immediately.” He also emphasized that recent developments in Syria and Iran are part of broader imperialist plans, and declared the union’s solidarity with the working classes of those countries. Suzan Abdel Salam, Head of the Jerusalem Branch of the National Union of Palestinian Workers and Member of the WFTU Presidential Council, attended the protest as a guest of Nakliyat-İş. In her powerful address, she stated: “Palestinian workers are not only being bombed—they are being starved, blockaded, and erased in silence. This is not just a humanitarian crisis; it is an organized crime against the working class. Silence is complicity. Long live union solidarity, long live Palestine!” Özkan Atar, President of Birleşik Metal-İş Union and Vice President of the DISK Confederation, also spoke at the event, saying: “We strongly condemn Israel’s massacres carried out with the backing of US imperialism. As organized workers, we will stand with the Palestinian people until Palestine is free.” Following the protest at the US Consulate, a second demonstration was organized the same day at Gebze City Square by the Gebze Unions Platform. The protest drew broad participation from local unionists, democratic organizations, and the public. Speaking once again in Gebze, Suzan Abdel Salam called on all workers and peoples of the world to expand solidarity with the Palestinian cause, stressing the urgent need for international unity against imperialist aggression and Zionist occupation. Both protests ended with powerful chants: “Murderer USA Out of the Middle East!”, “Murderer USA, Murderer Israel—Get Out of Palestine!”, “Long Live the Brotherhood of Peoples!”, and “The Palestinian People Are Not Alone!”
