Una exploit Zero-Click per WhatsApp consentiva la sorveglianza remota. Meta avvisa le vittime
Una falla di sicurezza nelle app di messaggistica di WhatsApp per Apple iOS e macOS è stata sanata, come riferito dalla stessa società, dopo essere stata probabilmente sfruttata su larga scala insieme ad una vulnerabilità Apple recentemente individuata in attacchi mirati di tipo zero-day.
Un caso di autorizzazione insufficiente per i messaggi di sincronizzazione dei dispositivi collegati è alla base della vulnerabilità, identificata come CVE-2025-55177, con un punteggio CVSS di 8,0 che è stata utilizzata da software per sorveglianza (spyware). La scoperta e la successiva rivalutazione del bug sono attribuibili ai ricercatori del team di sicurezza di WhatsApp.
Donncha Ó Cearbhaill, responsabile del Security Lab di Amnesty International, ha affermato che WhatsApp ha avvisato un numero imprecisato di individui che ritiene siano stati presi di mira da una campagna di spyware avanzata negli ultimi 90 giorni che ha utilizzato l’exploit per il codice CVE-2025-55177.
Un messaggio inviato ai possibili bersagli ha suggerito, come misura di sicurezza, di resettare completamente il dispositivo alle impostazioni originali e di assicurarsi di avere sempre aggiornato il sistema operativo e l’applicazione WhatsApp per garantirsi una protezione ottimale. L’identità del responsabile, o dell’azienda produttrice del software spia utilizzato, rimane per ora sconosciuta.
Il difetto riguarda le versioni WhatsApp per iOS precedente alla versione 2.25.21.73, WhatsApp Business per iOS versione 2.25.21.78 e WhatsApp per Mac versione 2.25.21.78. La vulnerabilità in questione è una vulnerabilità di scrittura fuori dai limiti nel framework ImageIO che potrebbe causare il danneggiamento della memoria durante l’elaborazione di un’immagine dannosa.
La settimana scorsa è stato reso noto cheCVE-2025-43300 come strumento in un’agguerrita offensiva informatica mirata a colpire singoli obiettivi con tecniche estremamente raffinate. La società di proprietà di Meta ha affermato che il problema “avrebbe potuto consentire a un utente non correlato di attivare l’elaborazione di contenuti da un URL arbitrario sul dispositivo di un bersaglio”.
È stato inoltre valutato che la falla potrebbe essere stata collegata alla vulnerabilità CVE-2025-43300, che colpisce iOS, iPadOS e macOS, nell’ambito di un attacco sofisticato contro specifici utenti.

Soltanto fino dopo il COVID cominciai lentamente a rendermi conto che le comunità stavano diventando più tossici prima che mi rendessi conto, specialmente Twitch, dove le comunità sono sotto barriera delle regole per paura delle multicorporazioni

Solo che poi Discord si è rilevato, come molti altri, come una piattaforma che si vuole lucrare dell'utenza.
Penso che è colpa delle multinazionali se ci ha trascinati dentro questa convivenza sotto una sorta di New York immaginaria.

in reply to [AF]2050 • • •Io penso che ci vuole ancora anni fino a quando davvero il pubblico generale si sposterà finalmente da quelle piattaforme ed andare altrove, per questo ne sono sicuro perché da poco la gente si ritrova in mezzo alle brutte pratiche, ma ancora rifiutano di lasciare nonostante tutto.

in reply to [AF]2050 • • •@AleF2050 onestamente non è solo Google, ma l'intero sistema. Stiamo verso un controllo totalitario di internet (a dire il vero, non solo internet, ma questo è un altro discorso) da parte di ogni entità.
L'internet "spensierato", innocente e felice non esiste più. Esiste l'internet del controllo. Esiste l'internet di oggi che amplifica il peggio di noi.

Solo che mi fa venire molta paura solo a pensarci. Ma serve questa consapevolezza condivisa in modo che prima o poi la gente capirà e riusciranno a convincere loro di fare marcia indietro.

Un po' come il fediverso e i social network moderni. Il fediverso funziona solo se si rimane piccolo e con una base utenti ridotta. Appena abbiamo un aumento esagerato, la piattaforma comincia a marcire.

E io concordo con te che non dovremo far la stessa fine di Facebook. Io farei di tutto di utilizzare Internet solamente per stare nei posti riservati, e farei entrare solo la gente che ne importa. Non come Bluesky che ha tentato di mettere in cattiva luce la decentralizzazione.

in reply to [AF]2050 • • •A me mi piacerebbe TOTALMENTE vivere soltanto in una comunità legata al GdR e al mondo nerd, per esempio, in un sito totalmente individuale e non collegato a nessuna piattaforma centralizzata. Con lo solo scopo di riunire in buona compagnia e di ristabilire un posticello di internet a cui non appartiene al controllo di qualunque entità.
Senza la solita scusa di mettersi in un gruppo di Facebook e di Discord, come purtroppo lo fanno tutti noi.

in reply to [AF]2050 • • •Rifondare il sistema è piuttosto un concetto altamente potente. Serve un audacia competenza. Cercare di evitare quelli che fanno le big tech è dura, è questo che tu intendi.
Per come la penso, la mia idea sarebbe di ritornare a fondare i gruppi come facevamo negli anni 80-90 ma pur mantenendo il contatto fisico piuttosto che rimanere dentro nel Matrix. PRIMA di Facebook e l'ascesa dei big tech.

in reply to El Salvador • • •Qualche volta ho lo stesso pensiero, più che altro io sento che c'è una poca "personalizzazione" dell'internet in generale.
Nel senso, mi ricordo quando su Youtube o su altri social avevi la possibilità di personalizzare il proprio profilo/homepage con temi e decorazioni di vario tipo per dare un tocco di personalità alla tua pagina. E molti utenti si mettevano li a decorare e a impostare il proprio spazio virtuale come più gli piaceva, per poi condividerlo nel mondo.
