So manche Diskussion rund um die digitale Souveränität Europas kann ich nur schwer nachvollziehen. So habe ich beispielsweise bis heute kein PayPal-Konto. Meine Mastercard ist eine geschäftliche Karte, die ich seit Jahren nicht mehr genutzt habe. Wenn ich ein „PPT”- oder „Word”-Dokument schreiben will, dann begleitet mich LibreOffice (StarOffice) seit Jahrzehnten.
PayPal war in den USA eine echte Notwendigkeit. Hintergrund war, dass es dort keine Möglichkeit gab, Zahlungen von Konto zu Konto vorzunehmen. Das gesamte System basierte auf Kreditkarten. Als PayPal das europäische Zahlungssystem der Girokonten kopierte und ein wenig ausschmückte, war die Sache perfekt. Fertig war die Suppe.
Wenn ich das Original nutze (und die kommerzielle Nachahmung links liegen lasse), dann fehlt mir nichts. Im Gegenteil. Das schützt mich vor genau vor dieser konstruierten Abhängigkeit, weil dir irgendjemand erzählen will, dass es ohne PayPal und Kreditkarte nicht geht. Dass das Quatsch ist, dafür stehe ich als lebender Beweis.
Kommen wir zu LibreOffice. Es gab ein kleines deutsches Unternehmen aus Lüneburg, das sich zum Ziel gesetzt hatte, eine vollständige Office-Anwendung zu entwickeln. Das Unternehmen nannte sich StarDivision und stellte seine Anwendung StarOffice kostenlos im Internet zur Verfügung. Das war großartig, denn schon damals war erkennbar, wie invasiv MS Office werden würde – spätestens seit O365 ist. Seit dem liegen alle deine Daten personalisiert in irgendeiner Cloud. Auf der bist du jedoch nur Gast und Gästen kann man schon mal den Weg vor die Tür zeigen.
Letzten Endes ist es immer eine Frage des Wollens, ob wir uns unabhängig machen. Wenn es darum geht, Abhängigkeiten zu Unternehmen zu reduzieren oder vollständig auszuschließen, dann haben wir alles, was wir brauchen. Das gilt auch und gerade für Firmen und Behörden – wenn da nicht diese Interessen aus Politik und Wirtschaft wären.

Prinzipiell gebe ich dir recht. Und für mich ist dieses Thema absolut wichtig.
Aber stell dir ein großes, internationales Unternehmen vor, dass über Jahre hinweg ihre komplette Landschaft auf Microsoft ausgerichtet hat. Da braucht es erst einmal enormen Aufwand an Stunden und finanziellen Mitteln, um erst einmal ein tragfähiges und funktionierendes Konzept zu erstellen, um von dieser Abhängigkeit loszukommen. Dafür ist aber ein Vorstand oder andere Entscheidungsträger vorausgesetzt, der das Problem mit der digitalen Souveränität erkennt und dann auch willens ist, hier an Manpower und finanziellen Kosten zu investieren. Das sehe ich nämlich als das größere Problem.
Was den privaten Anwender betrifft, da sehe ich für den klassischen 08/15 User so gut wie keine Argumente, sich nicht aus den Klauen diverser Anbieter zu befreien. Mit ein paar Ausnahmen vielleicht aber das sollte eine Minderheit sein.

in reply to Feditraveler • • •Alles Richtig was du schreibst. Für große Unternehmen ist es jedoch tägliches Geschäft neue Anwendungen in die Prozesse einzubauen und andere zu entfernen. Es geht ja nicht um einen BigBang, sondern um einen Weg.
